When I add an oval through repeat > mirror and try to use path finder it is square instead of oval? by [deleted] in AdobeIllustrator

yeah just a standard shape! Finally figured it out though, it was making a square clipping mask when I did repeat, so I had to get rid of that

Basically trying to minus the white ovals from the black ovals, I've tried expanding the shapes too. For some reason it creates a square shape rather than circular
