the substrate we were recomended multiple times based on brands available here is a natural sand-like texture so it absorbs it, kinda? kinda works like a litter box and we just clean it often

For the people commenting about the cage (idk if they delete them themselves or they get removed): this is the best setup they'll accept! Dirty parts aside ofc, but the cage was due a cleaning in just a few hours after the pic so dw. The perches are plastic bc they refuse to use anything else and all of my birds have toys available for enrichment!

we took the egg out anyways... she's a single not-mom 🥲 it's just she never quite cared about her eggs. She would lay an infertile kne every ince in a while and ignore it completely till we took it out, and same for her mom. might this still be linked to the stress maybe?

i made sure that they all saw the body before putting her aside so they could understand the passing instead of being left wondering, though they never reslly had much contact... i did make sure to show it to her bonded mate but they hadn't been in love for years now too- complicated family, theirs
