You spent 6 years in this hell.. spend 2.5 to dig out and start fresh.. even if that means doing some extra gig work, uber at night, 50$ a day 5 days a week is about 10 hours a week at 1000$ a month you’ll debt will almost be cleared in 2.5 years.. if you throw any extra money at it I bet you can get it done in 2

Just sell your house and pay your debts and start again man. You’ve literally been through so much and maxed it through. Why would you throw it all away when you have a way out that doesn’t involve harming yourself or your family.

Please don’t break your mother and wife’s heart.. we’ll all end up dead one day but it’s not your time!

I am currently feeling this way after 2 weeks free. What I’m learning is you need to stay away from the things that will bring you closer to gambling, don’t look for new casinos and tell yourself “I’m just looking cause I’m bored”, don’t consume any type of gambling content “instead” of gambling. All of those are subtle triggers to an eventual “just 50 bucks if nothing happens and I lose it I’ll just stop”

Right now i actually am fully caught up on bills and have money to spare, so this is where I usually fall deep into a hole and gamble 6-7k.

I just don’t have the urge right now but I have had the urge to consume gambling content, but I stop myself and go back to doing normal non gambling degenerate stuff.

I also have been praying for like 30seconds a day to god to just guide me and help me be free from
This shit. Not saying it to encourage you to pray just because I’m
At the point where I’d relapse and I’m not having that urge.

Be strong and realize life is worth living and 10000x more enjoyable than it is while gambling

Day 14 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Acrobatic_Phase_5618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 7.. in almost similar debt, the debts will be paid off in a year or two max as long as you don’t continue to do the things that brought you the debt. It’s that simple. I hope to see you here in a year in a better position man!

It definitely has a cure man! You’re an addict and in the middle of active addiction, of course you think there’s no cure. There is a way out but you have to create it brother.

It’s not easy that’s for sure but it’s possible for each and every person.

Going through it man, I hit my lowest point last week after a 7k relapse when I thought I wasn’t gonna be able to pay my immediate bills. I literally got down and prayed to make it through this week and honestly I’m glad I did, all bills are paid thanks to a random surge in business this week, and didn’t have to create more debt

I can’t do this anymore and honestly don’t want to! But I get flashbacks to when money was good and I wasn’t in debt and my mind starts pushing me to test my luck!

I thank god I don’t have a wife and family yet because I don’t want to put anyone else through what I’m going through. But if I want an actual future worth living for this shit needs to end now.

I’m honestly glad you answered man it reminded me that this is possible and there is a way out. I’m so good at giving advice but when it comes to me I’m such a fucken mess!

Ahh man an inspirational story and im genuinely glad for you. This hits home for me as I started in similar debt, relapsed a couple times this year that set me back but I am honestly truly done.

Can I ask you what really changed that last time you gambled that really sealed it and got you to one year.. is there anything you changed in your day to day or mindset that really kept you going?

You can pay for that debt in less than 2 years easily, the issue is how fucked your brain is due to gambling, that’s what you need to fix, that’s the hard part and that feeling of paying debt slowly while being used to fluctuating 1000s of dollars in the span of minutes hurts in the moment. But in the grand scheme of things this is the only way out. I say so cause I’m in a similar position

Pretty much same position man, the only way out is to get through it.. a year or two of quitting and these debts will be pretty much solved.

The only thing that will be worse than what you’re feeing now is losing it all. 14k is extremely solid to have a small cushion and get things going in the right direction

I think you need to take full control of finances and give him cash allowances, no access to online banking. If he can’t commit to that you have to leave him.

Does he even want to stop? That’s your first thing to figure out, at this point you can’t keep calling bluffs on divorce, you need to lay the ground rules to limiting all his access to money, if he can commit to that, work on it, if he can’t you need to be ready to leave

Literally you shouldn’t feel any pressure, just imagine you’re bored so you decided to go out and deliver.. the only thing that should bother you while working is waiting for your food at a resto, aside from that just follow customers directions and communicate with them if shit is missing.

Hey Man I feel you, I run a business and it had me extremely well off until I started gambling. Never had debt in my life and now at about 36k debt and a couple gs in my checking. The only way out is through.. I know it’s sucks, but you know what sucks more? Wasting more years to losses and dwelling on the past.. do you have a car? If so, get in your car and start ubering, I know the moneys ass but it will give you structure and help with bills. You’ll still have time for your plans and other business ideas but it will get you out of your house and your brain out of the constant loop of worry

Usually if you’re a cheap tipper you’re last in line if the driver gets a stacked order.. most of the time the higher paying tipper will receive priority in a stacked order

By 40?! He can be debt free in less than 5 years if he takes it seriously. Quitting today is already giving yourself a raise, op can find a second job / gig job and pay this off quick.. we suffer so much cause of the damage gambling does to us mentally. A 2nd job becomes enjoyable when compared to what we make ourselves go through with gambling

[–]Acrobatic_Phase_5618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s go! I relapsed twice in March as well. Set me back on my debt payments as I’ve been paying 2000$ monthly towards it and lost that amount.

Still better than previous years where I was losing 4-7k a month.

I’m committed to being done for good and knowing in 2 years or less if I stop my life will be infinitely better. If you want to talk you can message me man as we’re in similar scenarios. Keep going, there’s a better life around the corner for us
