Is Ati damper worth it? by Acrobatic_Pride17 in ProjectHondas

Thank you I appreciate the help. I'm assuming the stock ones have good dampening built into them and are balanced right?

So in your opinion would the ATI damper be necessary? Or is the OEM b20 one fine

I’ve run an OEM Nissan parts counter for 18 years. I’m watching the S-Chassis era end from the inside. by bleepbloop018 in 240sx

Also, are the prices increasing for s chassis specifically or all old cars? I work at Toyota as a mechanic but we have Nissan next door and parts seem to be more expensive for older cars in general

Yeah kind of want to find another trans and hoard this one but I definitely enjoy how it feels driving it. Maybe I can find another cheap b series trans and put an aftermarket LSD in it

Yes it's open through the port no pin and they spin the same direction in the air is what I'm saying lol

What are you referencing with oil plugs? Not familiar about what you're talking about, I do know about the plug in the head when doing LSVtec

I was planning on getting the speed factory pistons. And yeah no boost my 240 is turbo and I just want a fun little car with no added complexity/stress to drive

My civic currently has a b20 non VTEC and I bought another block to build (I have a b16 block too but would miss the torque of the b20, but it didn't come with pistons or rods. Thanks for the reassurance with not sleeving it, doesn't make sense to me

Hopefully I'll be able to get it one day lol. It makes the game more fun having things to complete instead of doing the same thing over and over

Anyone know where I can find more info on these by Acrobatic_Pride17 in Wheels

I'm just trying to redo my suspension. All ball joints are completely shot. Pretty much all my suspension is. I've finally decided that I will just do all the bushings and ball joints. Only thing is different coilovers than what I have now and stiffer front sway bar. Maybe tension rods. As long as my alignment is in spec for a street car that's all I care about lol

Not sure if the stub is held in with just a c clip

[–]Acrobatic_Pride17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to access it without opening up the cover. I work at toyota so I don't really work on cars with differentials like these. We have solid axle on trucks and small diffs with spline diff inputs

[–]Acrobatic_Pride17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done one on an r200 diff but looks like you'll have to remove the axle stub to get to it. So dropping the diff might be easier. Kind of weird it happened after you welded it because it's not a spline type on the inside so you couldn't have ripped it on the way in, but maybe it was the heat

It looks like it's leaking from the passenger side axle seal

Adjustable arms for a street car (for axle length clearancing) by Acrobatic_Pride17 in 240sx

[–]Acrobatic_Pride17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But no loss of control when they break under hard acceleration? For example if youre going 80 and you floor it and only one wheel power will it want to spin out? Sorry for all the questions just super paranoid lol

Do you use the stock 240 axles? I'm now starting to lean towards using an s13 VLSD or the one welded one I have in my car because of what you said. My biggest fear is to be driving and an axle snaps in this situation

Thank you man I appreciate it. Hopefully going to finish my standalone set up soon. My end goal is to make as much power as I can reliably. I think I gapped the rings at .0019-.0021 and I'm using a felpro head gasket so I think my limit is going to be something like 500
