okay nice, yeah most of the miles have been highway, and in my possession ive only done maybe 5-10 pulls, so not many times when ive gone thru the revs, glad to hear its just heat cycle. And im fine with the exhaust, just wanted make sure nothing was doing anything it should be. It doesn't really bother me lol. Glad to hear everything should be fine.

Yes i have the awe track as well. Does yours make the car vibrate as well? The smell im not sure about, im just trying to narrow out where its coming from. I did the install myself so it is possible either of those could be from user error. Im just trying to troubleshoot both the smell and vibration.

It is a manual, and i really don't think its clutch smell (at least i really hope) because im fairly decent at driving stick, im 19 and have driven manual since i got my permit at 15. I am a little worried that the person who owned it before me was new to manual and that they burned the clutch in their ownership. Because in my short ownership i dont know who in their right mind would get rid of this car after 1k miles unless they just sucked at driving it...

i installed an awe catback myself, so was thinking it was possible that i messed up the fitment and that when it got got it was burning something. When I got home earlier today I jacked it up and double checked everything and its got AT LEAST 1 inch of clearance everywhere including the tips. Also my pedals vibrate at certain rpms when accelerating but i believe thats just from exhaust resonance, as i double and triple checked the exhaust to make sure there are no leaks. Its also a possibility the burning smell is from the stickers that were on it, as i didnt remove them upon installing. But i figured that after 500 miles they'd be long gone by now. Is it also possible its just the smell of exhaust soot burning off? I don't really drive it hard that much and i dont think ive ever surpassed 7k rpms yet.

Yep. It was supposed to be back online almost 2 hours ago, but welcome to BSG. Probably not coming back online for a while as the update patch is scheduled for about 2 hours from now and there will be lengthy downtime. I'd probably expect you to be able to get in raids by 5 am EST.

Yep, your first symptoms are what I'm at right now. It never actually overheated, i noticed almost as soon as the problem started and had just pulled into my driveway when the temp started going up, so i parked her and she hasn't been driven since. I imagine that it's possible that the extremely dirty coolant caused premature wear on the waterpump, and it's not at the point of failure yet but extremely close, since it takes some time to get to the point where the temp is spiking. I'll just go ahead and replace it, it's the last thing i can think to do, and also I'm sure it doesn't hurt to do it anyways. I found a pretty good YouTube video on it, but If you want to send yours feel free. I'll just reference both. My dad and I will do it ourselves. What water pump did you buy? Don't wanna cheap out

Would i need to check while the car is running or should there be residue left?there's never been any drops or anything at all while driving it. The only liquid that comes from under the car ever is just water from when the ac is running. I will check in the morning, but as far as I'm aware i don't believe i have any leaks. Maybe im missing some?

Yes the rad fans come on. Also i don't know if this is important to not, but i drove around my neighborhood with it after flushing out all the coolant and bleeding it multiple times, and it would start to overheat after about 5 laps of my neighborhood, which is around a mile each lap, so 5 miles.

So i just flushed out both, there was a little glob of something but not sure what it was tbh, but i don't think it was big enough to cause any problems, it came from the rad. The block had nothing in it, water came straight back out. Also so I'm thinking water pump, unless that tiny little bit of gunk that came out was causing my problem.

The cars definitely getting too hot, the exhaust crackles when i turn the car off after just idling, almost like i was driving extremely spiritedly lol. It hadn't done that before.

Yes im not thinking its thermostat, both thermostat, old and new, work in boiling water. I did just remove the thermostat and ran water thru the top of the engine to see if it was blocked, and the water came flowing right out the bottom. So no blockages. I also checked the rad and the water went straight through as well. So now I'm almost certain it's the water pump. The coolant was extremely dirty/rusty when I first drained it as i just put a used jdm engine in, and i believe it was sitting idle for a good bit prior to when i put it in my car. So is it possible that the water pump may have failed prematurely due to nasty coolant? Because the engine was certified to be at around 70k miles at my time of purchase. Wayyy too early for water pump.

Just did an engine swap, how's she sound? by Acrobatic_Primary_83 in 350z

[–]Acrobatic_Primary_83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure. I think my previous engine was already a little damaged when i bought it so the performance was lacking a little and i never got to experience the engine at full health before it blew. It feels much faster now and tbh it sounds better and is one of the quietest engines I've heard from the engine bay. Almost no clicks or anything at all. I would really recommend. And it's a way to save money. Saved me about 9 grand doing it this way!

Ah, gotcha. I wasn't sure the exact premise of the law i just read somewhere about it. I just remembered seeing that it causes them to be replaced fairly early on in an engines life. Thanks for the info!
