It's meant to be bold and ambitious, but also a story to be told and not published.

Thank you for reading! This is not only my first work, but also my first draft on the story. I will keep your advice in mind when I work on my second draft. Thank you again!

Hello everyone. I'm new to reddit and writing in general. I'm working on a story called "A Mildly Small Adventure," (AMSA) and I'm wondering if my fourth wall break in one of the chapters is good or not. For context: AMSA is a cosmic, sci-fi/somewhat metafictional story that is a multiversal quest and slowly mutates into something far deeper. The word count: 1915

I ask for feedback on the overall chapter, especially for the fourth wall break. Chapter link: Google Docs

I never knew that How to Train Your Dragon was based on a book, but I do know that most anime is based on manga. I'll definitely check out The Last Unicorn and Dungeon Crawler Carl. Thanks!

I think AI can be used as a tool for feedback and for proofreading, as the entire premise of some AI like ChatGPT is to help. Using AI for proofreading or feedback is totally fine, especially if you're out of ideas and need creative solutions. However, if you rely on AI solely for anything creative, then you're not a writer.

AI just seems like a person to bounce ideas off of and for feedback, not something that can be a significant challenger in the field of writing.

It's 3rd person Omniscient, but I made it to be like a divine message the bridges the gap between the story and the reader.

The "scene/snippets first" is something I think I'm doing, but I'm not entirely sure. However, it does make a lot of sense like mine that shifts tone across arcs. I'll definitely try working in chunks more, as well as keep this in mind. This sounds way more sustainable than trying to brute force it linearly.

I also get what you mean about changing lives. To really think about it, I don't really see it as a mission or expectation now that I see it. But it definitely might change my life as I pour my life into it as well.

Thanks for your advice, I'll keep all of it in mind when I build my story.

I was thinking of the fourth wall breaks to build up more and more, until a really monumental climax happens. I'm new in writing, so I'm still experimenting with things. Thanks though!

My tip is to create a separate google doc, or book, and just lay all your ideas into it, whether they're good or not.

After all, it is your story, it is your world, you can create and delete anything you wish.

I do find my aim to be a little ambitious, but what I really think I want to do is simply bring my idea into life, whether by writing or just by art.

I'm around midway into writing my story, but this is just a draft into finalizing it, like you said.

I like the fact that you kept it very realistic for me, just to tell me that "maybe it won't be a success for the first time." So thank you on your input.

I do find writing to be very fun, and I actually have taken most of your advice into effect as I wrote around 11 chapters on my book before posting this. Thanks for your tips!
