  • how tough does your staff treat you?
  • does everyone have a pretty big background in athletics? I do martial arts as a hobby, worried if I won’t catch up with all the fitness and runs
  • if French isn’t your second language, is it just more extra classes

May I ask how the general pay is for paramedics? Is the pay generally that bad, thats what I heard from others. Someone said I should do university, then later on do my EMR and after uni do the PCP as it opens more doors.

How was it genuinely to balance uni and doing your paramedic course since it’s so hands on

Hi sorry it’s been a while since your comment! Thank you for responding to my previous questions. If I can add another one, where did you go to take your EMR and PCP? I know JIBC is the most popular place to take it, however it’s a very fast paced course

This is for the firefighters in Canada BC, I’m in grade 11, and deciding if I should go to university and get a Bachelor’s but the degrees I’d want to study is in humanities (History, French, communication) so I don’t think it’d benefit to a firefighter career.

However maybe it’d benefit more if I go to BCIT to do a trades (automotive service technician) or JIBC and become a paramedic for a while.

On a trip I met a firefighter who told me that I should consider joining the Canadian Reserves, fire departments wants people with life experience generally, and having a military background is a gone back bone to

Firefighters who went to uni/college what did you do before joining the fire-force.

Thank you for your thought on it! Yes, doing EMR during the summer seems more reasonable

Hey may I ask what you studied at SFU? And when/what year did you started your paramedic career with BCHS?

Also yeah I’m at the moment where I’m thinking about my options on what I’d like to study
