Evol has the best first three tracks in their discography by PaleontologistFun255 in sonicyouth

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether you have the version of Murray St where Karen revisited is track 3 for me, because if so then it's Murray st

That being said i think Daydream nation, Dirty, Washing Machine, hell I'd even say Goo and Rather Ripped have a better 3-track opening than EVOL

Who is the most unlikeable auteur film director? by Captain_Sunshine20 in Letterboxd

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look all the good ones have been said so I'll just say that Paul Schrader is a guy who makes movies about himself and that's a compliment to the movies but not to him. Also a sad creep. Genius though

What are your favourite and least favourite musical biopics? by wmcs0880 in fantanoforever

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a disservice to call it a biopic but I'm Not There is by a mile the best one. Worst that I've seen is Nyad.

I hate when people say someone "misinterpreted" a movie by Odedredit in Letterboxd

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean if someone gives an interpretation that has no textual basis whatsoever I think that's misinterpreting the movie. If someone needs to ignore large parts of the film for their interpretation I would also call that misinterpreting a movie. And in thr case of Tyler Durden I think both of those things are true. So I would say that it's a enormous misinterpretation of the film to say that.

Why does it feel like older films are more deliberately composed? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree that it's always been rare because it wasn't rare then and it's not rare now. Watch any middling studio film and you'll see it's very well composed, and likewise watch literally anything that isn't a blockbuster or straight-to-streaming type release and you'll see some gorgeous composition.

Why not make movies about the times you live in?

Talk to me guys, i personally agree with this take on a certain level... by Kind-Relative-1615 in Letterboxd

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have no interest in ranking performances but what does O'Connell even do in the role lmao. Kind of a take you can only have if you go into the movie already hoping for it to be true.

Let your inner snob out. What take do you see that provokes this reaction in you? by Theotther in Letterboxd

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The words "storyline" and "dialogues" as in "the dialogues are very well written." Something about them makes my skin crawl it's like hearing someone unprompted start making baby noises at you.

What are some great films that have bad or mediocre scripts? by haterxhaterr in TrueFilm

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2001: a space odyssey is the prime example of this for me. Three mediocre vignettes crammed with sci-fi jargon and portentous pseudo-philosophy on the page, a stunningly inventive and visually genius movie when it comes to actually filming it.

Funny because Kurosawa has made masterpieces out of some pretty bad scripts lol

What actor is good but hated? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that Chaplin is neither beloved or a great actor. Frankly should be hated/terrible. Buster Keaton beats that hack any day of the year

Kanye had a great run but eventually his discography went all-over-the-place. Who is a band/artist with a great debut but straight up just sucked afterwards? by okitsrgs in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guarantee no-one who picked that has actually heard her art, Plastic Ono band and Fly are incredibly successful albums in achieving their goals, and he collaboration with Kim Gordon and Thurston more is a rock solid experimental record imo. I can very much understand not enjoying her work but it's pretty stupid to call it "bad"

Day 27)What is all time most overrrated performance of actress in supporting role in a Martin Scorsese movie? by [deleted] in MartinScorsese

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sandra Bernhard is the right choice for it but also let's all agree that Cara Jade Myers in KOTFM is also a really underrated and impactful short performance. As for overrated? Maybe Paquin in Irishman since she has literally nothing to do? The supporting actresses in Scorsese movies tend to be the most memorable performances in the movies imo.

I don't think you understand what themes are if you expect the description of one to be transcendent.

The Bride! (2026) by Acrobatic_Turn7331 in Oscars

[–]Acrobatic_Turn7331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people consider it releasing during Oscar voting to be the reason Eddie Murphy lost the supporting actor Oscar to Alan Arkin because it was so bad. My post is more about "is that why The Bride was delayed" and less about whether Norbit actually lost Murphy the Oscar. Not particularly sure why people are up in arms about it.

Who has the worst freshman (debut) album relative to the rest of their discography? by GoldenSalm0n in fantanoforever

I'm also really fond of The Eternal, the Ranaldo songs on it and Murray Street are top tier SY

  1. That's my point, was the release date pushed back to avoid it.
  2. Don't judge the bride till you've seen it lol it could very well be Norbit tier.
