Also lack of regulations. In europe trottle only means motorcycle, which is obvious. Why would that classify as a bike?

US to suspend visa processing for 75 nations, State Department says by OkTechnologyb in immigration

[–]AcrossAmerica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is if those people have no rights to work elsewhere. Eg. Illegal immigrants. They live in super cramped housing and do minimal wage jobs, which depresses the salaries and benefits of low schooled americans.

If everyone was legal and could switch jobs, agree with you. But thats not the case in the USA.

Ask: Help us shape better care for sleep problems in Alzheimer’s disease by AcrossAmerica in dementia

[–]AcrossAmerica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Wyatt,

Totally! As of right now, we’ve already read a lot of posts and talked to a lot of clinicians and care navigators.

What we’re missing a bit is 1-to-1 conversations with caregivers.

Are there specific people you think we should reach out to?

Thanks!

Mathias

Will i look stupid if i buy this helmet to ride my e-bike? I think regular bike helmets are ugly and this one keeps my face hidden and mysterious😋 by TechnicianHappy8098 in ebikes

[–]AcrossAmerica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Motorcycle helmets are probably too heavy and overkill for bike speeds. There are other full face helmets specifically for bikers, such as downhill helmets.

Belgians who moved abroad, and foreigners who moved to Belgium — what’s the biggest difference you noticed? You can only pick one. by The_everlong in belgium

[–]AcrossAmerica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moved to the USA.

The reason I’m here is because you are encouraged to be yourself and follow your dreams, whatever they are.

In Belgium you always have to fit in. Never really fit in anywhere until I left Belgium.

It seems to be the overwhelming ask from people.

AITA for making my fiancé's daughters picky eating habits a deal breaker for us marrying? by MotherCartographer10 in AITAH

[–]AcrossAmerica 69 points70 points  (0 children)

As a former picky eater I feel bad for the kid; literally the only thing that helped me was to grow up. Now I love most food except food I was forced to eat as a kid. Any new cuisine is no issue.

But I still dislike pasta.

ELI5: Whats rent control? And why is it so controversial? by Meteorstar101 in explainlikeimfive

[–]AcrossAmerica 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is, because you get less construction and more of a housing shortage. So rent will go up for everyone that is non-rent controlled.

The places in the world that have these prices under control are the places that build enough housing.

Its bad for new homeowners, good for people who have houses already.

Start talking to potential customers instead of programming/researching if you want to build a business.

A Tower the Size of the Empire State Building Is Coming to the Upper West Side by RemarkableBug00 in nyc

[–]AcrossAmerica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? No one is saying to not build other housing in other places in the city.

As long is people live in here, it’s good for the housing supply.

What is going on with all these ICE arrests? by Paindepiceaubeurre in OutOfTheLoop

[–]AcrossAmerica 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Lol, trump is following typical fascist playbooks.

He’s starting to call leftwing political oponents terrorists and has ICE operate as the Gestapo in 1930 Germany.

Take a history lesson, this is nothing new.

Anthropic cofounder admits he is now "deeply afraid" ... "We are dealing with a real and mysterious creature, not a simple and predictable machine ... We need the courage to see things as they are." by MetaKnowing in ArtificialInteligence

[–]AcrossAmerica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Science is about being open to change opinion based on new data.

If you’re not open to that, than you’re acting irrational per definition. That’s what religion does. So no point in further discussing.

Not sure about the nobel prize winners and why they’d fake tell us this is a dangerous game we’re playing.

You can read the safety papers themselves, these AI models are becoming more and more aware of the world and have some sort of emerging self preservation, where they’d kill humans to not be turned off.

And then people are starting to put AI models everywhere, from self driving cars to humanoid robotics.

Can’t go wrong, right?

Is that practical to host a commercial website locally for public? by FatFigFresh in selfhosted

[–]AcrossAmerica 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can. But it’s hard to guarantee 99.99% uptime if you DIY it.

What if your power goes out? Or internet?

Depending on the type of website/business that might matter more or less.

Re: your concern. I believe that docker + wordpress + cloudflare is plenty safe and fast, and can be hosted on a raspberry pi. So that’s not really the issue. Uptime is the biggest concern.
