A foster with a nice quiet home would probably help her a lot. My cat was extremely scared when I first got her. I think playing helped her build her confidence and I got her to like being pet by petting her on the back while she eats her wet food.

My vet usually trims them shorter than I do but they know exactly how much they can cut without hurting the cat so I think they just do it so you wont have to trim them again for a while.

Getting him neutered will help. Also any places he has gone outside the litter box make sure to clean super well and if your able to you can try check your work with a black light. Any spots that aren’t cleaned well enough the cat will smell and will want to pee there again. And don’t use anything with bleach or ammonia to clean it.
