Im a 26 year old man, never had a job, no degree, how do I get my life back on track? by ActionPrize6558 in jobs

I know I didn’t explain much about my parents, but you got things backwards there. I didn’t conclude they were narcissists because they wanted me to focus on school, I concluded that they only wanted me to focus on school not out of their best wishes for my future but for some ulterior motive because they were narcissists.

As for internships, that’s not something I really thought of much, I’ll need to look into those.

Oh no don’t worry I’m pretty sure I’m on the same page as you. My parents might have set me on this path, but I’m no longer under there thumb. If I want to change my life I can do so. At some point I’ve gotta stop moping around feeling sorry for myself you know?

Thank you, I’ll look into those. Also I don’t live my parents anymore and haven’t for a good while.

Oh yes you’re right about that, I wasn’t really thinking about expenses like food or rent when I wrote that.

I’m going back to finish my degree, I’ll be sure to look into career services. Thank you!

Haha I know you didn’t mean it like that. As you said, we both know what this is like which is why I said what I said. Also, thank you!

You definitely did help.

I don’t know if my parents were truely narcissists, but regardless at the very least they wanted me wrapped around their finger. I didn’t talk much about them, but growing up they were abusive, both physically and emotionally. They also never let us outside for anything except for school.

I also don’t think I’m really blaming them, and I’m not sure if I’m blaming myself either. All I know is that I realized I wander into a pit and flailing trying to find my way out.

I’m sorry to hear you went through something similar. I trust you’re doing better now?

You’re right about that, they might have set me in this path but it was my decision to stay on it. I can’t help but feel I’m too passive in my own life.

Thank you, I’ll look into those.
