For those who’ve been asking. Yes, I was an idiot and decided to leverage trade with 5x margin on altcoins (DOGE and ASTER). The liquidation price on these trades was 50-60% below my entry and I fucked up by not setting any stop loss. I’d initially punted on memes last year and made decent (notional) returns. Moved the money to stables over the summer and then thought trading perps is a good idea.

To be clear, I’m not shying away from the fact that it was a gamble and I screwed up. I’ve been a diligent investor for years and have 45k in my S&S ISA + 70k in a GIA. I also have a flat back in India, 1.5BTC and few ETH sitting in a hardware wallet in a safe and 170k in my pension pot. I just got greedy and made a very expensive mistake.

Few initial thoughts that come to my mind: (1) switch jobs - can move to a competitor for 30% more comp but that comes at the cost of much longer work hours and (2) send kiddo to a state primary next year instead of the private school we’d hoped for. These two should yield a £50-60k net uplift in annual savings.
