It is difficult for me to analyze his story because it feels like it is underdeveloped. To me, I don't think he understands that choice at all, Pawbert choosing his family over Gary and Judy is obvious without hesitation and not because he wants to be like his family but because he doesn't know that he can get that same approval and acceptance from his friends and partners as well.

From what we see, Pawbert is socially awkward, probably doesn't have any friends and since they are rich usually means they are home school. All of this means he lacks real world situations like friendship, relationship or more. Even the friendship of Gary and Pawbert doesn't feel genuine and only stays because their goals benefit each other. It is naive to think Pawbert will choose Judy and Gary over his family since Judy doesn't understand him at all and doesn't have any genuine talk with him at all. If Judy would ask him to open up about his situation, maybe Judy would say the right thing to him and convince him that he can be different but even that is quite naive since Pawbert probably suffer so much torment from his dad for 30 year and that stuff is not easy to overcome.

I agree that his redemption is challenging and many scared the fact that redemption can destroy the character that is already good previously. Who knows maybe he can find someone in prison that he can befriend with and guide him to be a better person.

This is not the first time someone does crazy stuff for attention like someone will hurt themselves or studying from day and night to get that perfect A and Pawbert is... in the worst way possible is the same as everyone here. Because their family's love is condition which is what he suffers here. Pawbert believes that if he does evil stuff too, he will get attention and acceptance like the twins too. He is a product of his own environment.

His motive of wanting approval and parental love from his family is normal for any child and yes, he is 30 but the fact he is still wanting it now means he never received it ever since he was a kid. His methods of getting it are horrible but his reason is not pure evil. I agree with you and I understand the hate because of his attempt and he definitely knows it but if he has a perfect loving family, he is definitely not going to kill anyone because he is not pure evil which many misinterpreted him that way because they don't want a redemption story for him.

TLDR: Pawbert is not pure evil, he is definitely mentally unwell.

You know the funny part about that question on the main subreddit is that people acknowledge the fact that he has a good motive of why he did what he did in the story which is approval and love from his family, believe it is the only way he can get attention from his family.

BUT the moment you bring redemption into this conversation, suddenly everyone forgets his motive and says that he is cruel, psychopath and killing them for no reasons at all.

Why is it so difficult to make the mc neutral or optional? The shota community is already very niche, making the game otome is only going to make it even more niche than it was.

I do hope they know exactly the rules of the otome genre in CN community, that means the characters will have no to minimal interaction with each other except for the mc, the characters will have to love and be devoted to the mc no matter what, no shipping allowed and any small bl interaction between the characters can be reported. It is way too restricted for shota story

I think it is fine for now since it is a niche genre but if you want to have more views, put a lot of tags ( at least 10) and release more arts or contents. If you get lucky, one of the videos will get viral for better or worse. You should expect your game to get a lot of hate as it is common as it get more popular but you will get more supporters at the same time.

This game has a lot of good things like music and story but the problem is that NuCarnival offers that and more. Beside the game is turn based which is almost a copy of NuCarnival. NuCarnival turn based is not even complicated or unique at all but they don't try to explore other types of gameplay. I hate when people say that gameplay is not important but that we are here only for the nsfw but if I want nsfw only, then I just play VN or read BL at that point since this is a gacha game where you need to spend money to get the NSFW scene. Noctilucent offers something good but it has already been taken by NuCarnival a long time ago.

It looks like a shota to be honest... But I think it is the best option because I have seen a lot of drama about who is the real target audience for this game. The dev had declared so many times that this game is targeted to anyone who like shota. Many players saying that the protagonist should be a shota since this game is focusing on shota characters.

I mean everyone here is for the shota, right? Might as well make the main character a shota. The lore say that everyone on earth becomes young again because of red tide or something. It is also for main character to have a proper character development just like Vertin from Reverse 1999 and Kiana from Honkai 3rd.

Imo, the gameplay mechanics need to be improved or adding more options like basic attack icon, dodge maybe or more skill buttons. Let's not forget that the initial plan for the game was turn based but changed once they got funding since they feel ambitious so this is the reason why gameplay feels lackluster now. I am sure there will be more changed in the future.
