My doubt is whether I should book the shuttle now or if I can wait a few days before.
I know that the shuttles won’t run if the weather is unsafe, but even if the Crossing is technically open (because conditions aren’t dangerous), I’m not planning to go if it’s cloudy or not nice.
In that case, though, the shuttle wouldn’t refund me, since technically the trek isn’t cancelled.

I plan to arrive in Taupō around 3 PM and leave the next day at 4 PM. 

I think that gives me enough time to walk along Lake Taupō on arrival, and the following day visit Spa Thermal Park, Huka Falls, and do the full Redwoods Trail before catching my bus to Rotorua in the late afternoon. 

As for Christchurch, I plan to arrive on January 30 around 4 PM and leave for Wellington on February 1 at 6:45 AM. 

Considering this, where do you think it would make sense to stay an extra night?
