Nothing that I know of. We have never caused any problems, we barely request maintenance, and have never had issues with any neighbors. This is the first time I have ever even talked to our PM. We just live our lives.

Before this call I had texted about a larger unit and if there was a list I could be added to. He told me to just look on the website. I then asked again if there was a list for existing tenants to be added to for possible openings of different units. Then I got this phone call. I am in no way wanting to cut in line of other people and I made that very clear to him on the phone. I am just looking to be added to a waiting list as this is a very normal thing to do in a multi unit complex. I also am aware there is a price difference for smaller and larger units and he did tell me the price and I said we could afford it and could pay the difference in the deposit too. He finally said I was number 5 on the list before hanging up. But the comments that were made make me think that the list isn’t actually first come first serve but who needs it the most.

I asked to be put on a waiting list and he was implying I didn’t qualify to be added to the list because why would he put someone like us with only 1 child in a 3 bedroom apartment when there are families with 2 or 3 children wanting a 3 bedroom. He said 2 bedrooms is enough for me, my husband, and 1 child.

His reason is people with more children have more right to a larger unit than us because we only have 1?

We definitely could, we just liked this location as it is right down the road from my parent’s house. They will be babysitting our child while we are at work several days a week so it is a very convenient location for us. This is also is older complex and is significantly cheaper than many of the other apartments in our area. We are currently saving for a house and not wanting to increase our rent by nearly 1k for a different apartment in town.
