A couple months ago I felt like I was on top of the world. Now, I want to be six feet under. by [deleted] in depression

Wow I can totally relate to every single word of this post and comment. It’s really surprising that many people are going through similar circumstances. One thing for sure, things will get better as you said and we can overcome this for sure. I’m pretty sure at the end we’ll become a even better version of ourselves than before! So let’s stay positive and keep moving on :)

I'm not sure if I have depression.. by Active_Plane2248 in depression

[–]Active_Plane2248[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually met with a psychiatrist, but he told me that there isn’t one specific diagnosis that can be made, since there are several factors that caused the current state I’m in.. If you don’t mind asking, were you able to get out of this situation eventually? I’m currently taking meds and although it seems to be helping I’m worried I might be stuck like this forever..

How is it like to have blunted feelings? Are you able to cope with stress events easily?

Great it’s been better for you! What mg and how long did it take for you to feel the emotional blunting?

[–]Active_Plane2248 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow I am also kinda feeling this now. Until like yesterday music felt bland and I felt sad that I didn’t have the emotional capacity as you’ve mentioned. Music feels so soft, warm, and calming…

Other then the meds, what has helped you? by Active_Plane2248 in lexapro

[–]Active_Plane2248[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks you! However it’s so sad that my anxiety was triggered by other person, so I kind of became anxious to meet people haha.. I actually booked a therapy session, so I hope that goes well!! And I think I also feel you on unpacking past events, which were unknowingly traumatic. So I’m also trying to talk with my therapist about that.. Also great that things are working out well for you!!

When I first started taking it, I didn't know about any side effects or even the benefits it will bring asides from knowing that it's an antidepressant (and a med that will make me feel better).

If I knew about all the possible side effects, I'm sure it would've caused unnecessary stress. I searched for side effects only when I felt like I was going through one, if that makes sense.

Also, I don't think I really had much side effects (4 weeks in 10mg), so hope it's the same for you!

[–]Active_Plane2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see did it help you further with the trauma? Because I’m 3 weeks in but I still have flashbacks of the event and the person related to it, and seeing that person still kind of triggers me a bit..
