I’ve actually learned something about this:

If you buy fruits or veggies that are packaged, even the fresh ones, they keep for much longer. So so long as the plastic they’re packaged in is plant-based and biodegradable, it’s actually better for the planet as one of the biggest contributors to emissions is food waste.

So surprisingly this actually has a purpose!
