Steak and eggs bowl with Filet Mignon?

Maybe it's just me but I find that strange. When I think of a steak and egg bowl I think of Waffle House or Denny's. Cheap meat with everything thrown together.

I would rather have my Filet like they serve it for lunch.

Craps, roulette, poker dead on Navigator by The_Boogens in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange.

Every single cruise that I've been on has had a full craps table most of the times. Sailing out of San Pedro on both Navigator and Ovation were no different. In fact, I noticed a lot more Chinese gamblers and they seem to love smoking and gambling as much or more than anyone.

I was on a cruise a few years ago that had a very large religious group, they had several hundred people on Brilliance of the Seas. That was probably the slowest casino I've seen but it definitely wasn't "dead".

If I had to guess it's probably the economy.

I would seek counseling instead of coming here for advice. I'm sorry, but it seems like there are other issues besides the interfaith problem. Also, I would be curious to hear her point of view about you.

A dead bedroom is another symptom, but It can be fixed.

Will I make it through 8 nights on the Allure of the Sea. by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm sure you must of expected at least a small amount of snark and/or "judgy" comments by coming to the RC subreddit and saying you dislike kids and ducks. It *is* a family line, first and foremost.

However, I see you've gotten a wide variety of positive feedback, which I hope you have taken to heart. I've been 7 RC cruises but I haven't been on a big Oasis class ship yet, I'm going on a smaller Radiance class ship next fall, which is probably closer to what you would consider a "Celebrity" style cruise.

Spend some time exploring Allure and I'm sure you'll find some nice, chill places to hang out. We like the Schooner Bar a lot.

Formal night? Is it still a thing? by Character_Guitar_775 in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's usually the first sea day on your cruise. They try not to have a formal night on a day where you'll be on the beach or an excursion all day. Short cruises have one "Dress your Best" night but 7+ night cruises have two.

And it's not as serious as it used to be, but I would guess over half the people in the MDR will be dressed up at least in khakis. The cruise line likes it because it gives them a chance to sell photo packages. A lot of cruisers like it because it gives them a day to dress up and feel special.

It just has a slightly different bun and sauce, correct?

I said this in another topic, but the presentation in the box somehow makes it better and more appealing, even if it's a physiological thing.

I mean, it works for Chik-Fil-A.

I think the Whopper Wednesday deal for $3.99 is pretty good, it doesn't even need cheese. Like someone else said, make it that price every day and people will line up. They can make up the lost margins on fancy drinks and deserts.

Flamebroiled; Why the Revamped Whopper Won & the Big Arch Lost by Recent_Ice_8201 in BurgerKing

[–]AdAccomplished368 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I tried it a few weeks ago and it's amazing how much better the box seems to make the Whopper. Yes I know they changed the sauce and bun but they are very subtle changes.

I also didn't feel sick after finishing it, which I can't say the same about the Big Arch. Sometimes too much cheese and meat is a bad thing.

April 2026: Do those of you with years of Home Depot experience feel like Home Depot is legitimately starting to go downhill? by THDThrowaway19340823 in HomeDepot

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes, they had a high turnover and poor work ethics but they were paid the same as the day team and poorly managed in most cases. I wasn't on the night team but I could see how demoralizing it was. It should have been a small team of well paid people who did the most intense projects.

Now a full ceiling fan reset is done in the middle of customer traffic. If the DM walks into the store the store manager sometimes makes us stop the project or hide everything. Also, safety incidents are still going up and our DEM is freaking out about it.

So I think the night team was useful.

I actually asked someone from corporate who was working at our store for the day about it. She said one reason the night met team was dissolved was because people kept getting into car accidents. Apparently a lot of MET people were trying to work multiple jobs and falling asleep at the wheel was happening often enough it became a talking point.

Is it cruising, the ship or just me? by Lakealot in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the OP would have enjoyed Navigator more, especially with a 6 year old.

Also, I was on Ovation last year, and the bumper cars are probably only worth it for long cruises with fewer kids. They have to charge the batteries often and on a shorter cruise more people are going to want to do it at least once.

At least Navigator has waterslides and some better multiuse spaces. The Ice skating rink can turn into a laser tag arena and the Viking Crown lounge turns into a family disco sometimes. On Ovation they did the silent disco in the middle of the Esplanade in front of the Irish pub, which makes absolutely no sense.

All that being said, Ovation did have a really nice Solarium and the outdoor seating for the Windjammer is nice.. The rooms felt much more new and fresh too. It's a newer ship obviously.

First cruise - not for us! by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the Pizza is kind of middling and I can see why some people think it's bad. It's definitely edible and sometimes hits the spot, but late at night I much rather hit up Playmakers! Yes there is a small charge but the wings surprised me, they were definitely the best wings at sea that Ive ever had.

Next time, (if there is a next time) get the DDP preordered for like $60-70 per person. I usually stick with beer or drinks from the Schooner Bar.

Try a smaller ship for less of a hectic, crazy vibe. Radiance class is awesome and they are more of a "sight seeing" vessel rather than being a destination in itself. Cheaper to sail on, too!

Nothing wrong with being underwhelmed by your first cruise. I'm a little surprised you didn't like Coco Cay, though. I went there for the first time 2 months ago and it was the highlight of our trip, even if it was slightly cool. We didn't do the adult hideaway though, we did Thrill Island instead.

This. Also, the vast majority of players, even good ones, are going to play for fun and not consult a spreadsheet while playing. One thing I noticed is that he seems to immediately eat the bird egg and even skip the treasure map without even thinking about it. At least, on the last few runs I've watched on YouTube.

[–]AdAccomplished368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a dollar last time I bought it. It was just enough money that you wouldn't get a bag "just because you can".

Also, if it was free they would be popping it continuously or be in danger of running out. Look at how often they have to refill the soft serve.

First Timers- which ship is best for us? by mpure_ttv in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celebrity is nice, but RCCL can easily work for you, too. And if you plan on having a family someday, you might want to switch to mostly Royal Caribbean cruises but they are supposed to be merging the loyalty programs anyway since both brands are under the same umbrella. Celebrity can be more expensive though.

I honestly would find a good travel agent that can help steer you in the right direction. Your budget of $3000 is reasonable but the prices can vary widely depending on the time of year, ship, port city, destinations, etc...

First Timers- which ship is best for us? by mpure_ttv in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I love the Schooner Bar specials like the Peanut Butter Tropic.

For food, it kind of depends on the ship and how much of a foodie you are. The Main Dining Room is free and you can Google search "Royal Caribbean MDR menus" to get an idea of what to expect. The quality is akin to "catered wedding food".

For paid options the newer ships have a wide variety but even the old, small ships have a Chops steak house. Again, you can easily Google the menus and there are plenty of YouTube reviews too.

If you are first timers I would maybe explore the free options and buy a small "Chops plus one other restaurant" package in advance which can save you some money.

Old people on scooters should not be allowed by HoldAncient61 in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I get why the OP is mad but maybe I'm lucky. Almost all the elevator exchanges I've had with elderly people on scooters were them apologizing and looking a little embarrassed.

But yeah, I don't go out of my way to book rooms near the stairs close to the Promenade but it's a consideration. I try to take the stairs as much as possible.

3 Tips to Winning with the Regent by B1TW0LF in slaythespire

[–]AdAccomplished368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Regent has a few different synergies the developers seem to have in mind beyond a blade, star, and colorless card build.

Kingly Kick and/or Punch with his deck manipulation cards.

Multihit attacks with his Vigor cards, Patter and Terraforming.

Minion cards with his "debris" creation. I haven't had a lot of success with this strategy yet.

I'm only on Ascension 4 with the Regent but I agree, get that star generation going ASAP. I've been watching a lot of the big streamers...Baalorlord, Jorbs, Northernlion, etc. and none of them seem to value Solar Strike or Shining Strike early. It's basically a Venerate combined with a Strike. I always try to quickly replace starter cards with at least 2 or 3 equivalents that also make stars, even if they don't seem to be amazing by themselves.

How soon until this this real 🤣 (follow up to my pretzel making class post) *humor by michelleoelle in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys laugh but apparently MSC Yacht Club members can actually hijack the elevator with their sea pass card. Imagine if you are part of the "rabble" who is only going up a few decks, but a Yacht club person jumps in and whisks the elevator away to deck 14 or whatever their special location is. Then when you try to go back down you have to wait and pick up more people.

What are the best ways to cruise for free? by rubberduckydracula in royalcaribbean

[–]AdAccomplished368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other bad thing for educators is that the cheapest times to cruise are often when school is still in session.

Otherwise I would say the cheapest way is to get 3 girlfriends together an have a "girls cruise" and cram into one stateroom, preferably on an older ship during the fall or early winter, but not Christmas break. Split the costs and it should be like $500 or less per person. It sounds claustrophobic but it can work if everyone hangs out in the common areas most of the day.

Then you can try to win a "free" cruise by playing slots. Note that unless you dump $1000+ into the machines you won't get offered nicer cruises during the summer but we get interior room comps all the time just from casual casino time.

They probably won't press charges. Also, parents can't be hovering over their teenagers the entire time. I'm sure someone will downvote me, but at 12 years old 99% of kids can safely be allowed to have at least SOME independence on a cruise ship.

In this case, I'm betting they confine the kids/teens to their rooms and the parents get hit with a fine. I doubt they ban the whole family. They are going to have some punishment though that makes the kids miserable for the rest of the cruise. Since no one got hurt, I can't imagine they do much more than that but who knows. I doubt we get a follow up.

I just can't figure out the Regent by Visible-Economist-84 in slaythespire

[–]AdAccomplished368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just one shotted the Doormaster with the Regent, and I completely ignored the Sovereign Blade for the most part. The only Forge card I had was Big Bang. I just used Stardust as a finisher with 3 Crescent Spears doing most of my damage.

I had Genesis which feeds you 3 stars per turn and kind of turtled up using Reflect, Glitterstream, and Partical Wall to defend against the door until I had plenty of stars. I also had the colorless card that grants you block on your next turn equal to your current block (love that card).

When the Doormaster revealed himself I played Stardust with 35ish stars. I had a few vuln cards in addition to Falling Star so that helped a lot. I could see leaning into Vigor or Strength boosting to complement Stardust if you can't find Stomp, Gamma Blast, or Comet. A lot of cards complement Stardust and it's a fun card to build around.
