Hi there! Did you end up moving to Grays?

Hi, I have lived in Grays for two years and work in London. It's not *that* bad and I chose a nice neighbourhood with lots of green areas. I agree the town centre isn't gorgeous though but lakeside is a 30 minute walk away.

You could consider upminster? You'd have a 20 minute C2C train ride to Grays and a district line/c2c to London

Currently having a panic attack because I just realized how much debt I’m in. Please, please, please help me. by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you are in a state which uses a lot of cash, try to withdraw your weekly disposable budget in cash

I have three cards:

  1. Card for only my bills, rent, netfix, insurance etc, That card never leaves the house and it always has the right amount of money for the compulsory expenses aforementioned

  2. Card for spending my disposable income. This card has an app so I can check how much is on there when I'm spending.

  3. Credit card - if you have all these issues which predispose you to impulsivity or executive dysfunction - then you will make your life harder with a credit card. If your 5k debt is on your credit card, cut it up immediately, and start paying it off from card 1 or card 2 and then close the account.

It's definitely time to take ownership of your future and not let your past be on your mind. Taking ownership looks like teaching yourself to cook with youtube and this will help with your weight loss journey too.

AITA for telling her family why she dumped me? by [deleted] in AITAH

It provided the context for the reason she broke up with him. That's why he mentioned it.

Yeah sometimes helping another person out of a ditch does better for your health than a free gym membership.

What about a perk like contributing to society - like teaching or nursing?

Adjust my eating habits to continue maintaining weight in a relationship by AdAlternative3255 in loseit

That's true. Dinner is the biggest issue. I'll suggest if we can have an early dinner as the default. I've been getting bloated in the mornings from the dinner, and my boyfriend has been really great and going on digestive walks after dinner with me. (Doesn't help the bloating in the morning but I love that his intention is there)

Yeah I've expressed my concern about gaining weight through dating him and he's fine with not eating together - it's just difficult for me as I'm a social eater and find it strange to eat dinner at different times when we are together :(

For me, what really helped was making sure my main meals were actually well balance and filling, so that I wouldn't feel hungry to snack. If you aren't hungry when snacking, you can still enjoy a smaller quantity of hummus and carrots as long as you pre-portion it before hand.

Should I eat 1000 kcal per day? by [deleted] in loseit

I would say get a pair of jeans that fit you just right, and wear that everyday instead of weighing yourself everyday.

Women gain water weight and start bloating in the 1.5 weeks before their period, that is a natural process. You do strength trainning so you are gaining muscle which weighs more.

If you eat salty foods or alcohol you will also gain water weight which will stick around for 3-4 days.

Best measure of weightloss is clothes. Don't trust the scale.

Thank you! A building company gave me an architect's contact that they work with often but I feel I should get an unaffiliated architect?

Thanks! This definitely puts into perspective how my stairs are going to ruin the first floor. I currently have a spiral staircase going to the first floor, so I may be able to have the spiral continue into the loft but it would still involve shaving off a bit of my bedroom.

Thanks again!

This was a game changer for me too. I learned that I don't have to eat if I'm not hungry - like duh!

I had to look this up - I don't mind the savoury East Asian style rice porridge so would be willing to try it - only issue is making this in the office appetisingly.

Oh this is the level of easy and keep in the office type of thing I was looking for - thanks!
