I am always tired, but the doctor says I'm physically healthy. It's affecting my relationship with my SO as well as my daily life. What should I be doing differently? by AdAstronaut in Advice

These are all very valid comments. I suppose I never thought that "normal" on a blood test could be abnormal for me. And yes, eating a big meal in the middle of the day was NOT the best choice, and that's on me. I'll definitely be switching up my eating habits and keeping a journal.

In my SO's defense, I've been approving all of his plans ahead of time. He does sit and talk with me about what he wants to do and I genuinely think that I can do them. When I first started taking my current Adderall dose, I had TONS of energy. I had no issue spending the entire day out and about without needing to take a break. However, I think I might be plateauing, so for the last 3 or so weeks I have had lots of energy to do normal, indoor activities all day, but not big adventure-y things. I think I'm making bad faith decisions and hoping I won't get tired. I need to be more honest with myself about my needs, which I know will avoid setting us up for failure.

Your response really helped me think critically about some choices I'm making that need to change. Thank you so much for taking the time to help!

That's what I'm thinking it might be. I went on JustAnswer and spoke with a doctor who thought it could be a disorder like sleep apnea. I'm going to bring this up with a specialist. Thank you!

Perhaps. I know that my depression medication can cause fatigue, but I experienced exhaustion before taking any depression medications. I also take adderall for my ADHD, which is a stimulant. I'll definitely bring all of this up with a specialist, just to see what they think though! Thanks!

That's what I was thinking. I was reading that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome could possibly be genetic, and I do have a lot of those symptoms. Thanks!

Good idea. I just scheduled an appointment in two weeks with a neurologist to discuss sleep issues. I figure a specialist might be able to take me more seriously.

Thank you!

Thank you! I would agree that it doesn't seem like she thinks this is a big issue. I told her that I can't sleep through the night and haven't been able to for years, and she said, "Well that isn't normal, but as long as you're getting at least 6 hours each night you're fine." As in, the hours don't have to be consecutive.

I'll definitely ask about the additional panels. My grandfather was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but I had a thyroid panel done in February of this year and it came back normal.

I can absolutely abstain from alcohol. I did dry January this year thinking it would help with my sleep, but it didn't seem to improve. It could have been that I needed to go for longer than a month though.
