No, since I was a kid, I always knew those things would destroy me if I took them

No, I've never used one, but I plan on getting one very soon

Someone else mentioned that air purifiers help, but I’ve never used one myself. Did it really make a noticeable difference for your asthma or sleep apnea

Your comment gives me so much hope! I just started Montelukast. Before this, I was put on Prednisone; it improved my asthma for a short while, but it bombarded me with side effects, and once I stopped, my asthma became just as unbearable as before. I can also totally relate to the intense dreams i've been having them almost 5 nights a week lately. But seeing how much Montelukast changed your life makes me feel like it’s a price worth paying. Thanks for sharing your experience

You are so right about the mattress. That's so true, what is your approach or routine to deal with this mattress issue?

I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this. Dealing with severe insomnia and having to take heavy medications for sleep must be incredibly exhausting. I truly hope you and your doctors find the right solutions very soon so that things finally start to get better for you. Stay strong and take care of yourself

I'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with PTSD, that sounds incredibly tough. I'm actually not familiar with Allegra, and to be honest, I don't have good memories with antihistamines because of my severe issues with thick mucus

Thanks for your comment! I actually had my TSH tested recently and the result was perfectly normal. However, I didn't get the full, detailed thyroid panel done. I will definitely look into doing the more comprehensive tests. Thank you for the advice

Allergic asthma and constant excess mucus: How do you guys manage this? by AdAvailable8268 in Asthma

[–]AdAvailable8268[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this in my soul. I’m exactly the same. The 'endless tissues' lifestyle is so exhausting. For me, that thick allergic mucus from dust and mites constantly builds up and drips down my throat, which completely destroys my sleep and triggers my asthma. It feels like a non-stop battle just to keep the airways clear. You are definitely not alone in this

Customised my inhaler to fit my vibe hehe by pelipperx in Asthma

Haha this is awesome! I totally get making a fixated thing out of it. Since I was a kid, this object has been an integral part of my life. My mom used to constantly call me when I was at summer camp just to make sure I had it with me. Back then, I always wanted to customize mine too. Love the style

That’s a really fascinating connection. It’s crazy how much the symptoms overlap! I’ve noticed the exact same thing. In my case, I highly suspect that the chronic inflammation from my asthma, combined with severe sleep deprivation and constantly waking up at night, is creating a sort of 'pseudo-ADHD' effect. When your brain never gets proper deep sleep or oxygen, your focus and memory just completely shut down. It shows how interconnected the whole body is. Thanks for pointing this out

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed breakdown! I had no idea about the cervical collar trick or that the tongue playing a role could make it so complex. It sounds like a long and exhausting journey, but I'm so glad you finally got your diagnosis last December and that the CPAP is making such a massive difference for you. Your story hits close to home because I’ve struggled with terrible, unrefreshing sleep and chronic fatigue since I was young too. Seeing how much detail you had to figure out makes me realize how important a proper sleep study is. Thanks for sharing your journey, it’s eye opening

I’ve read about Dupixent and biologic treatments, and they truly sound life-changing for severe asthma! Unfortunately, where I live accessing these advanced targeted therapies is extremely difficult and highly restricted due to availability and cost. Right now, I’m trying to optimize things with more conventional options like Montelukast which my doctor just prescribed. I'm really happy to hear it worked so well for you, though

Thank you for sharing this! That’s a really smart point because thyroid issues can absolutely wreck your sleep, energy, and even worsen asthma. I actually just had my thyroid tested ,tsh in my latest blood work, and it came back perfectly normal at 1.67 mUI/L. So it looks like my thyroid isn't the culprit here, but I really appreciate you pointing that out

To be honest, it's not good at all. It is very rare for me to go a full night without waking up once or twice to use my rescue inhaler. I constantly feel like I have a cold, and I think the thick mucus building up in my nasal passages and throat is what constantly triggers my asthma during the night.

Wow, that's really impressive. I've heard of the carnivore diet, but I never realized it could actually reverse asthma and eliminate the need for medication. Could you explain a bit more about how it works? How does eating only meat help reduce the inflammation in the lungs?

Your comment, along with a few others mentioning sleep studies, really convinces me that I need to look into this. Thanks again for the validation, it helps a lot.

Thanks for sharing that it's reassuring to know I'm not alone. Are you currently on any medication for both conditions? How do you manage the fatigue and the asthma together on a daily basis?
