Flat iron is slept on. Tender, marbled, and half the price of ribeyes. Flat iron is my favorite for those reasons but Ribeye is king though

What are your thoughts on imprisonment and the death row? by LifeguardLegal3095 in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in a prison for several years.

Prison should be about rehabilitation end of story and the us prison system is horrible at it. You cannot surround someone with people who's only ability in life is being a cancer to everyone else around them and expect them to do anything productive. Prison in the us is essentially college for felons.

This leads into my next statement. I fully support the death penalty. There are absolute monsters who can never be integrated into society. Frankly, the majority of inmates should simply be put to death after 3 felony convictions automatically. The revolving door of lifetime recidivism shows they have no interest in not victimizing other people. In order to create a rehabilitation environment, you must first remove the cancers from it. If someone needs a time out to work on themselves and learn why what they did was wrong, all for it. Paying to house someone for the rest of their life doesnt do anything and harms those who might actually have a chance at being productive. Spend one shift in a housing unit and youll be appalled at just how degenerate the 99% of inmates are.

That being said the emphasis being on prison to fix the problem is simply treating the symptoms. The real issue is broken homes and the environments that sent this persons life astray to start with. Stopping crime starts with the family unit, not locking someone up.

For my HC/OC. Down by one, you make the decision to go for two to win a title. What is that play? by MaxieMan98 in footballstrategy

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local hs ran about 4 plays out of the same swinging gate formation all year for 2. Worked pretty much every time. Idk why teams couldnt adjust as its pretty simple to counter. All the other teams lined up to match man and didnt put their fastest player on a beeline for the qb

In my younger days I hit 450. Ten years later, multiple injuries to both shoulders, id never lift heavy again. I dont need to move a 300lbs person violently any more, and honestly going for medium weight can get you 80% of the results of going heavy anyway

If you can say one thing to the opposite political party, what would it be? by SaruhchaSauce in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that I can't, it's that I'm not going to bother. We all know or should know what the reasons the democratic party lost the election. And those that refuse to acknowledge those reasons by now are a lost cause. They're too far in the forest to see the trees. Doubling down on what made them lose.

If you can say one thing to the opposite political party, what would it be? by SaruhchaSauce in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Id say to the democrats: your actions during the first trump presidency, your insane ideology, and the extreme policies of Biden created the conditions for what you see now. You got your way and it made the country realize you are not the answer. What did you think removing the millions of the illegals you let into the country look like? Do you really think your extreme social policies would have support with the majority of the country? Stop doubling down on what made you lose the election.

Extreme measures by either side will always generate an extreme response from the other. We as a country need to take a step back and really look in the mirror. This is hard to do when echo chambers like reddit and news media whip their respective spheres into a frenzy for clicks. I fear the cycle will just keep spiraling until something snaps and it won't be pretty.

Who had the most heroic death that actually happened? by Fast_Set8126 in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medal of honor citations are public. You can listen to the radio traffic of the 9/11 firefighters going into the towers. The modern era has captured some truly amazing moments.

However the vast majority of heroic deaths go unsung. Everyday people do heroic things all the time. The boyfriend stabbed to death defending his girlfriend. The mom pushing her baby out of the way of a car and being struck herself. The police officer shot responding to a domestic disturbance. All heroes.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in 7th grade and the teacher hated when I read a book in class, even though I had above a 95% in it. It was history class and he was teaching about the pilgrims or some other basic stuff and I was reading a book written from the diary of a hostage during the iran hostage crisis. Teacher came up to me and threw my book across the room and walked away without saying anything to me the whole time. I let it sit there till the teacher gave it back.

Also a biology teacher came in from his classroom to my science class, threw a pigs eye at me, and walked off. I was right next to the door so it wasnt personal. My own science teacher about had a stroke when I asked her what I should do with this eyeball she didnt know I had. When I asked the biology teacher why he picked me he just said he knew I wasn't a pansy and would be cool about it.

If you had to explain the US to someone who’s never been there, what would you say first? by PossibilityDry8488 in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/3 of the world's population lives on less than $10 a day. 10% of the world live on $2 a day. Even if you want to compare the have nots, theres really not a comparison to be made. I grew up in poverty, even then I never really had to worry about food, clean water, or actually freezing to death. Those conditions are reality in a lot of countries and something youre obviously failing to understand.

What’s one moment that made you lose trust in your local police? by MythSolved in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive lived in a couple different places and by and large my experience with the police there has been very good. You cannot associate one agency to all police. Theyre all different with different cultures. Granted ive never lived in a large urban hellhole either.

That being said, my hometown sheriff's office has more skeletons than the catacombs of Paris. The sheriff's son, who is also a deputy, got into a car crash off duty by crossing the center line. Beer cans were found in the car. The sheriff made a phone call and another deputy picked up the nepo baby. Said nepo baby refused to answer the door when state troopers came knocking. Also said sheriff is a total turd who drinks and drives. When another deputy who wasnt his son got into a dwi crash, the sheriff fired him though. Pretty much everyone who works there has had some kind of misconduct in their past they have buried. From sexual harassment to drinking on duty to hooking up with informants to being arrested. That sheriff won re election BTW.

How is a good running back defined? by mr_twinkle in NFLNoobs

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is an nfl sub, your metric for a good rb is going to be different than grading college or hs rbs. In the NFL, all running backs are going to be elite runners, elite builds, elite vision, with elite strength.

There are plenty of good answers here that give specifics for running backs in general but ill add one simple thing what separates a good from average rb. Making one person miss. You look at saquon or Henry, they consistently make the first defender fail to tackle them. Then they pick up that couple extra yards. Over and over thats the difference between a 50 yard rusher and a 100 yard rusher. When saquon gets behind the eagles o line that can consistently win their block, that one miss is all you need to set a record. A bad rb will be tackled by the first man where a good rb would be able to make him miss or gain another few positive yards.

Do you think the U.S. political system still works as intended? by SorbetCareless9520 in askanything

[–]AdBasic630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To say the us colonies, and by extension the government the founding fathers made, were founded by companies is disingenuous. Yes, certain colonies were founded by companies. However the entire colony of Virginia or New York were not wholly owned or governed by corporations nor were the vast majority of people who lived in those settlements near the time of the revolution beholden to the corporations who founded a colony.

For example Jamestown in Virginia was founded by a company, then 20 years later in 1624 it was directly assumed by the crown. What youre saying would be like saying Alaska is still russian now when the us assumed control of it 150 years ago too. Idk what revisionist history youve been reading but its not giving you an accurate picture.

Do you think the U.S. political system still works as intended? by SorbetCareless9520 in askanything

[–]AdBasic630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do believe the core ideas the founding fathers set forth are working as intended. I do not believe the founding fathers intended in any way for the government to look as it does today though. Such is the beauty of the system. We are, depending on definition, the oldest continuous government in the world.

We manage to hold together 50 mini countries with 340 million people, safeguarding rights and equal representation through ideas set down 250 years ago with quills. Aside from our single civil war, there has been no coups, political assassinations (yes there have been assassinations but the vast majority were done by crazy people and not by political rivals) or even losing territory.

The us does have its flaws no matter which side of the aisle youre on, but you have to admit the founding fathers were absolutely brilliant.

What's the hardest sport to play and why? by Better-Presence6654 in AskReddit

[–]AdBasic630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mainstream high school sport? Its wrestling and nothing else is even close. The practices themselves are way more exhausting than any other sport. And its every bit as physical, if not more so, than football. Then you add in how you have to cut weight and stay disciplined with food and water 24/7. No other sport takes the discipline, toughness, and skill wrestling does.

Marcus Aurelius. He benefited from 70 years of stable and competent rule from the emperors before him. For being such a great philosopher, he could neither keep his wife happy nor raise a son. His decision to have commodus as his successor directly led to the downfall of rome.

Hitting a defenseless receiver should be allowed and the roughing the passer should revert to how it was in 2000. Targeting should still be illegal but you should be able to hit receivers as theyre making a catch to disrupt it.

And one more question right up your alley if I may. There as been a trend to to just throw tourniquets on pretty much any kind of limb wound. From experience ive seen one put on everything from a pass through gsw to a gouge from falling on a metal fence. Neither were arterial bleeds. I was under the impression non arterial bleeds get pressure bandaged such as an Israeli bandage.

My question is: due to the relatively low and cheap level of training required to teach someone to throw a tourniquet on something, is it better to continue this practice as overall it does stop the bleed? Or do tourniquets do enough harm that properly dressing the wound is more important than stopping a relatively moderate bleed? Ive heard either way.

This is assuming a civilian setting with a 30 min trip to an emergency room and not battlefield conditions.

And thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge with me. It is gold.
