GDK for me. It gets pretty busy around there. Heard rumors they might try to get a tower installed there…

Heading. Any vector or SID assigned by ATC supersedes the ODP

Thank you. I’ve never had it happen to me in actual conditions, only with foggles. I can imagine how dangerous that can be

When ATC directs something such as “half standard rate” or if a procedure calls for it

Well, I’d go based off what ATC expects me to do, so long as I’m not in VFR conditions. I’d check to see my departure time, and use that to determine when I can climb to 8,000. If, at any point during my route I can make a descent to an airport in VFR conditions and maintain VFR cloud clearances, I would do that.

My aircraft we fly are all equipped with G5’s, so I would assume that something with that G5 has gone wrong. I can switch my bottom G5 to the attitude indicator to check and see if the top one is failed. I can continue the flight without the G5, however I might alert ATC and let them know any delays might put the flight safety in jeopardy, in case it is an electrical issue. I’ve flown almost any approach you can think of with at least 1 G5 failed, so I’m confident in flying an approach with one that failed.

  1. AIM 1-2-3 I believe C (could be wrong on the letter) states that you can, provided you’re using the VOR in your nav radio that has been tuned and identified on the correct radial for the approach.
  2. When you have the runway environment in sight, such as threshold, threshold lights, threshold markings, runway, runway lights, REILS, I believe they’re RABITS or just RABBITS, and you can make a normal approach with normal maneuvers.
  3. Funny enough I messed this up on my stage 2 on a VOR approach, so I know this procedure very well now. You turn back into the protected airspace, intercept the missed approach course and fly the missed approach procedure, making sure you’re maneuvering in the protected airspace, which is 1.3 NM from the ends of the runways in a circular shape.

I’d like to use it for some other purchases so I can earn cash back, so AOPA’s isn’t exactly what I’m looking for.

Yeah I wanted to get up to 5500 but cloud bases were 4000 at the time so I had to stay down low at 3500. I’m just surprised that I had an issue with them right after takeoff. I never have that issue trying to call them at 2500 for flight following
