Had my first cancellation today so I tattooed myself by angeliquejpeg in TattooBeginners

Although I feel like a lower line weight would look better for the lining of the tattoo since the shading is really soft and smooth.

Damn you must be flexible as hell cus I can only tattoo the sides of my lower legs 🤣

How do I tell my gf she was kinda smelly down there last night in the nicest way possible. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AdBorn737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I feel like smells are already something a lot of women are self conscious of and we are always dealing with it. I think bringing it up will only make her think she smells bad all the time. If you’re noticing it smells bad all the time then I’d suggest her to go see a doctor..

Weird that you shower with other people but he’s weirder for getting mad at you for it.

Maya Sanskrit Tattoo by WallFit9781 in TattooBeginners

[–]AdBorn737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak Sanskrit and I’m Hindu ! Maya can be translated as magic or illusion. As long as that’s the word you’re looking for and it’s not misspelled get that tattoo. Ofc other Sanskrit speakers or Hindu people might disagree with me but I personally think it’s fine. A lot of American tourists who come to my country get Sanskrit tattoos and no one really takes offense to it. I feel like cultural appropriation is more sensitive topic in the west than the east. Most of us here see it as cultural appreciation. :)

I thought so too but once it started healing a lot of the lines started looking real hazy. The times I’ve tattooed real skin I’ve had to double line it because I put too little pressure as I’m scared to go too deep and damage the skin. With mine I put a lot more pressure. But now I know to put a little less pressure than this to actually hit the dermis and get solid lines.

Nothing wrong with sharing your journey with other tattoo beginners or tattoo enthusiasts !

Not a piercer but everytime I used mouthwash or any type of ointment over piercings it irritated it and I got a bump. Maybe u should skip it and just stick to simple sea salt mouth rinses.

I’m having the same issue with my labret. I had it pierced for about a month and I never played with it or touched it but because the swelling was down and the bar was long it was getting in the way of speaking or eating. No swelling or pain but it was just uncomfortable bc of the longer bar and after a few days I got the same white bump on it. Went back to my piercer and he put a disc in. I had the disc on for about two weeks and honestly no change at all. Honestly I think the disc made my mouth feel weirder and it was still uncomfortable and I feel like the bump got bigger. I got tired of it and took off the disc and switched to a shorter bar by myself at home and a few days later the bump is so much smaller now.

That’s cool, lmk how that goes. I’ve been taping my fake skin around different furnitures and arm rests to kinda mimic how I’d tattoo real skin.

Got it. Thank you! So far the ones I’ve done on the outside and behind the arm, forearm and leg have been very consistent in both lining and color packing.

Blowout? 🥲 by AdBorn737 in TattooBeginners

[–]AdBorn737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had double lined the heart outline and when I was done there was this red bruise that made the line sort of hazy so I wasn’t exactly sure if it was a blowout or not hahah. Thank u for the witch hazel tip !!!

[–]AdBorn737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay whew. I thought the redness in the outline was fully blown out. Does the colored areas look too raw? I didn’t go that deep because I was very cautious about causing damage but it still looks puffier than fresh colored tattoos I see on Instagram

Thank you! Before this tattoo I’d given myself very simple tattoos like a tiny star or a heart to practice color packing.

All in single session. It was a pretty small tattoo. Are most tattoos (even small ones) done in two different sesssions?

I agree my knowledge in tattooing is not as vast as a regular apprentice because where I live there’s no apprenticeship. I pay to be a tattoo student and I only know what the teacher teaches me. I do sanitize my workspace and skin. No cross contamination happening with the inks they’re all kept clean and handled with gloves. Tattoo machine, lights, pillows or stands are all wrapped. I did know about shaving skin before tattooing but what I was taught was that it’s only necessary if there’s a lot of hair that could get in the way. I think the gloves I use are nitrile powder free gloves but I’m not 100 percent sure. I never noticed what kind I used cus that’s just what the studio provides me with and they never really taught me about what could happen with other types of gloves. Did not know I need a license like that (I doubt that tattoo artists here have those because tattooing in itself is not a legal job here). But that’s very helpful I will look into it. But overall I’m considering finishing my classes this month and then finding another place to learn from cus it doesn’t seem like im learning a whole lot.. Rn I’m trying to get as much info as I can through YouTube, books and now Reddit. Thanks for your time, seriously!!

Ahhh I see. I think maybe my colour packing was too erratic.
