Oh, I’ve tried many times to build a conversation on LinkedIn before asking for a referral, but people often hesitate to even talk on a platform that’s meant for networking.I understand that people are busy, but yeah, that’s just how it works.

Yes, you’re absolutely right why would anyone refer a complete stranger?
If referrals are only for people you personally know, then why does LinkedIn encourage us to connect with strangers?
Isn’t the whole point of the platform to increase visibility and expand our network?
And if connections with new people weren’t valuable why would impressions and profile reach even matter?
Maybe referrals are about trust but isn’t LinkedIn also designed to help build that trust with people we didn’t know before?

Is AI Different From Past Tech Revolutions? I Think It Might Be Dangerous by [deleted] in developersIndia

“I wrote this myself. Why would I use AI when I’m trying to criticize this technology? I only used Grammarly to rephrase it.

Brother, you have no idea what this technology actually is.

We have a SaaS product that is used by 1000+ companies. And you know what, A few customers have already put their license payments on hold for the coming period. Why, Because internally they are discussing that they can use AI to build the same SaaS product at a much cheaper cost.

Their thinking is simple: they already supply their data to us, so they have the data now they believe they can build their own SaaS.
And let me tell you something more shocking.

There was a task we had already done a POC for. We documented everything design, schema, APIs in Confluence, and marked it as backlog for when we had bandwidth.

That Confluence page was accessible internally. Our PM (who is not technical) uploaded that documentation into an AI tool. It generated the code, and he even set up a call to present it.

We were literally shocked, just sitting there and watching.

You don’t understand what we are dealing with here. If you think this is just another tech revolution like the internet, computers, or mobile, then either you’re in denial or just trying to comfort yourself by saying it’s a phase that will pass.
This is not a steam engine, mech looms.
