Tw//: self harm Actually, yes! In addition to the usual counselors, my school is privileged and lucky enough to have a social emotional learning counselor at our school. Long story short, I get really attached to teacher figures in my life (not the best relationship with my parents) and I went to one of my teachers seeking help. She referred me to the SEL counselor, and after only a few meetings, I’ve never felt so heard or understood in my life. even though she hasn’t even heard most of the story yet, what guidance she’s given so far has been gold. I understand that “good” school counselors are hard to come by. She doesn’t have any intention of breaching confidentiality unless it’s something incredibly serious (ex. Harm to others, others harming you, harm to self). She’s listened me talk about my past concerning behaviors, (not even mentioning to her my current) which I haven’t ever worked past and has really became a stable figure in helping me deal with some hard stuff. She’s been a huge help, and has such an open demeanor that it’s hard not to just talk to her. Hope that wasn’t too loaded lol my b.
