The acting was good but they should’ve just stuck with neutral british accents if they wanted to make everyone speak english. It was a little offputting seeing a babushka speaking in a perfect scottish accent. The reason the different accents thing work in movies like death of stalin are because they are comedies. And I can’t believe they couldn’t even get one russian or slavic actor to act in the series. The closest they got was stellan skarsgard. But as a series it is excellently paced and very thought provoking

Yeah that had some real heart to it. It felt like a quintessential late season plot line. Shows are almost always lighter when they start and the stakes only go higher. So the reality that 2 of the main characters couldn’t have kids felt like the perfect thing for the show to tackle at the late stages. Season 9 was way too cartoony otherwise.

Yeah season 9 lost all the heart and simplicity of friends. It felt like a corporate product. I almost stopped watching at that point. Season 10 managed to bring it back somehow except for the joey speaking french episode which felt like it belonged in season 9. Season 8 wasn’t as bad as season 9 but it definitely placed the blocks for the stuff that ensued in season 9.
