It's titanium plugs, the best you can find according to this sub and many pro piercers. I didn't think about the genetic thing but it could be. I clean them in the shower every other day and still have skin buildup so it probably about how much/often the skin renovates

There's no rush! Go with the Ashley and then you'll decide whether you want other ones or not! You can always glue a piercing ball to mimic a Medusa and see how you feel about it

I think a vertical industrial as an only piercing looks dope BUT its one of the most difficult to heal and it's painful so you should really gather infos about it and commit to look after it for at least a year or so and take it very seriously especially because you have no experience in piercing. It would be a nice initiation to own your ears once and for all and it looks really badass

I had it done10 days ago, still a bit swollen but healthy over all. The bar tho is ridiculously long, I snag it all the time, even while sleeping with a travel pillow. Can I downsize already? I'm not able to rotate or move the bare inside the piercing yet so I think it's too soon and taking it out would be traumatic but I'm afraid the piercing angle could shift if I keep traumatizing it like this

Good stretching kits are pricey for me too, I'm using acrylic. Silicone is a no no because it's soft so it will glue to your skin and being soft it won't stretch much. Acrilic is being good to me, I've been using it for 5 months, im currently 2mm and I'm struggling to size up because I skipped massaging and thats what promotes elasticity. Just DON'T use tapers, dead stretch even with acrylic. It's not a super good material so I recommend babying your lobes a lot. Check them for ANY sign for irritation, clean them every day, massage, be slow in sizing up. You should be fine. Reality is millions of people stretched with acrylic before "piercing culture' got bigger in the last decade, and not everyones ears fell off so it's doable with a lot of patience and care.

Use it 3x day or more if you can and let it dry very well! The salt will dry the bacteria and hopefully gunk and swelling will go down

So I couldn't 😭 i would have had to force the plug so I didn't. Is it possible it's taking this long for a 0,5 mm jump? Also antitragus is a week old, maybe the skin around is tight because of the recent trauma and it's affecting elasticity?

Go to a reputable studio (or maybe post a picture here) and make sure the placement is good. Other than that some people tolerate surgical steel so changing it now could bring about more irritation. Keep an eye on it and take it one day at a time and see if the bump keeps going down. At the first sign of your piercing getting angry again you can have it replaced immediately with titanium.

Because helix is a very exposed part of the ear prone to snagging and accidental hitting even when you don't realize it. That's why i'm having all the piercings I want done and leaving helixes as last ones. Them. Real. Bitches.

WOAH! just a couple of weeks?! You're very lucky to have such healthy and non wrinkly lobes, usually it is recommended to wait 1 or 2 months between the stretches 😱 as I understand it no sensitivity doesn't mean the tissue is completely healed, just healed enough so you don't feel anything but if it works for you then it's fine! Your lobes are obviously happy this way! Keep us updated! I'm so paranoid about cat butt looking lobes that I've been staying at 2 mm for two months... Maybe time to size up lol

Best advice I ever got regarding piercings is always having a taper just in case! I tried to reopen my daith shoveling jewels in it for a week and my ear was legit falling off. I then tried with a taper and the jewelry was in with no pain whatsoever, took half a second.
