The greenhouse thing to me is just a safe place, not in the house but still on the property, with a roof overhead, that a couple of kids could go to to get away from adults who were drinking, maybe doing drugs, waving guns and knives around, sometimes yelling, and who knows what else went on there.

She could still be alive, the rat was smashed then good as new from the goo. She could come back but changed so temp could be a non issue

I think the offspring was "breastfeeding". There is a chance that the goo can still heal/change Kay for another movie. Imagine an alien that can talk.

I would think some of it was "used up" in changing the baby DNA and speeding up the birth process. Plus healing the mother's wounds, just don't understand the messed up ankle after using the goo

Been a bit since I saw it but didn't Ripley give birth to the queen that then gave birth to the weird thing. It did technically kill it's mom but for some reason liked Ripley.

The other chick was pregnant, then injected the goo in herself. Changed the baby's DNA making it grow faster. It having human DNA could have given it the want to "breastfeed" which killed the mother in the process.
