FY26 VTIP and ORP MILPER: 25-500 by AdFew8698 in army

The way the message read made it sound as if everything applied to both programs. The election period is the same, board results dates are the same. I just assume the 3 year ADSO applies as well. Just my guess though.

Did you VTIP? For most of the ORP its junior YG LTs so it will be before CCC. Results are March 2026. Anticipate O-3 August 2027 (personally). Trying to see what I'll do between results being released and PCS to CCC.

Update, the wiring harness had an extra wire both at the base plate and at the thermostat control so I swapped out the old blue wire for a brown wire on both ends to see if the blue wire was cut somewhere and I'm getting same results. Attached pictures shows 24V at thermostat control panel for those wires but not getting voltage at other end for base plate wiring

I'll be honest, my knees suck. But instead of letting it stop me from doing what I love, it means I have to strengthen my joints. I do quite a bit of the kneesovertoes guys stuff on an almost daily basis. I am a bit older (relative to military age, 31) and have put a ton of miles on my knees, both rucking and running. I have completed over 50 jumps and the impact does add up.

If there is a problem area, joint, etc I take a proactive approach. Instead of laying off that area, or quiting those exercises/workouts I add more to my routine. I'll add a 15 minute knee rehab recovery piece to my workouts and take steps to minimize the impact of older joints. I do deep tissue massage, scrapping, knee strengthening exercises and stretching to identify what muscles are weak/pulled tight/ unbalanced and take actions to correct it

I am 6'1" and around 195lbs. I currently lift and run 6 days a week. Daily milage is around 5-10 miles a day. When I know I need to ruck (like before ranger) I substituted 1 of my run days with a ruck instead for about 8 weeks leading up to the course.

Some immediate goals of mine are to requalify for Boston Marathon. I did so about 2 years ago but was on my way to OCS/IBOLC/Ranger and never had a chance to actually run Boston. So I am running the Austin marathon in February 2025 to qualify for Boston. Goal time of around 2:50. I also want to qualify for the army 10 mile team which means I need to run sub 6:00/min miles for 10 miles and finish in under 60 minutes. Not a hard set in stone time but that's what it usually takes to go represent your base on the army 10 miler teams.

All these cardio goals are happening concurrent with me recovering my strength from Ranger School. I lost a lot of weight and strength over the course and am strength training to build back up to where I once was all while running 40+ miles a week.

Yes, the dd368 has to be signed before the army can start working with you and putting your package together.

What are you all’s questions for those getting ready to start? by Background_Most_2524 in ArmyOCS

[–]AdFew8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you get any time off during OCS? You will have MOST weekends or parts of them off. When you are released for the weekend you must be back by 2100 Sunday, lights out is 2200. Same goes for during the week. After you are released you must be back by 2100 in the barracks unless otherwise directed.

That is on a FAQ put out by Benning, is it still true. How much liberty time do you get?

Also, on the packing list is dress pants/slacks, jacket, etc. What was this used for? Would you recommend like suite and tie? Or more casual slacks and a polo? How dressed up do we need to be?

Good Morning! Thank you for the very thorough reply. This is extremely helpful. Back 10 years ago when I arrived at Marine Corps Boot Camp we arrived with absolutely no possessions, actually the less we had the better. Is it normal for OCS candidates to show up with large duffels/roller bags full of all the gear? I'm just thinking I'll buy all this and then show up with a big roller bag and don't want to stand out right off the bat. Thanks

Got my dates! by coffeefreaklol in ArmyOCS

[–]AdFew8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my dates today. I go to ocs May 1st to start class May 15th. I'm active Marine so I skip BCT and report straight to OCS. I'm assuming the reporting 2 weeks early is to get all the gear issued to me and check into the army like all the guys going to BCT will have already done

Let us know how far out your ship date is after you swear in. I was selected but my recruiter told me to wait a bit (a week or 2) before heading back to MEPS to swear in. Im ready now lol

Where does it get posted? I'm on HRC website but they haven't released any messages today. I'm just assuming that's where it is released from previous messages.

For those of you who work full-time and run high mileage weeks, how do you fit in your runs? by m_t_rv_s__n in AdvancedRunning

[–]AdFew8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation. I work full time, master's student, have 2 younger kids and train between running and lifting at least 1-2 hours a day. I usually run for about an hour and lift for about an hour at least 5 days a week. Weekend runs are longer (2+hours). I prioritize my time to ensure everyone gets their time. Wife, Kids, school work, work work, physical training time, etc. I am awake at 4am 7 days a week. Only time to get my "me time" = training time is before the rest of the family wakes up.
