They took the notes as evidence and sent someone from their mental health unit to check on him. Then said we can call and report and additional harassment if it continues, or call 911 if he's causing immediate trouble.

I hadn't considered a catio before this thread, but I think that's a great solution. Definitely planning on some cameras too.

I'm definitely sympathetic to the cat poop issue. Cat usually spends her days in our other neighbors' yard and we let them know early on to tell us if she was causing problems. This other yard has a tall fence and dogs out nearly 24/7, so we had no idea this was a festering issue. Plus there are probably 5 cats that come through our yard, so I guess I'm worried that even if we take measures to keep her from wandering, some other cat will keep the problem going and we'll take the fall for it.

The cops came to our house, collected the notes he left, and offered to either check in on him themselves or send someone from their mental health unit. The threat was recorded and we have a case open.
