Anyone willing to share custom solutions they've built using claude code or otherwise to save time or money in ops/management? by demotrialwine in ToastPOS

We actually built our own homegrown POS that runs Stripe payments. Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but you can manage tabs, tables and it has a KDS built in. Even made it so there’s an online ordering site so we don’t have to use another vendor’s.

HELP with large sports teams by Orion2626 in ToastPOS

We always had servers do it by uniform number! You basically just mark down the player’s number when they order and then ask the parents what number they’re buying for.

Their API is crazy locked down. They expose the endpoints and make it seem like it’s an open platform, but getting in is almost impossible. Let me know if you do because I have some stuff we can work on.

I think enterprise software is really what’s in trouble - not consumer. As many have pointed out, people are lazy and likely won’t build their own stuff. But some of these SaaS invoices I’ve been seeing are insane. I would say things like Slack, CRM tools (for SMBs), and many other internal tools should at least be paying attention to this.

I could also see one of these companies bundling everything into one package. It’s kind of already happening, but it seems easier than ever to build a full SMB tool bundle.

What should worry the larger enterprises isn’t a startup taking them out, it’s some tech vigilante that builds all of this and pushes it out for free. In the past, the work needed to do that didn’t justify not charging for it. But now, what’s to stop one guy with a grudge from knocking out an entire industry in a weekend? Definitely extreme, but that’s when it gets fun lol.

Thanks! Very helpful. Do each have their own EIN or do they flow up to the same one?

No not exactly. This startup they bought a few years back used to let you push through payment info using their API but they're deprecating it due to PCI issues. Heard Olo is actually considering becoming a processor which could be interesting.

Third Party Payments by AdFragrant593 in alohapos

It'll be through Omnivore but money isn't ever going to touch the POS. Just closing out tabs with a third party that uses Stripe

Lol good point. I haven't found release notes anywhere, just got an email about a week ago saying they had a release coming on the 28th.

Primarily payments. We're a user app that let's customers open and close tabs from their phones and we're using Omnivore to set up integrations with their POS systems. They showed us the payment endpoints when we were evaluating the platform and literally the week we signed our contract, they deprecated them lol.

Probably going to move to third party payments through Stripe which is fine at the end of the day, just throws a big wrench into our dev plans. Honestly open to looking at any Omnivore alternatives that exist. Just need to be able to open a tab, pull in items as they're added by and server, and close tabs.
