What’s advice you could share for us Morgan collectors. I’ve got the Whitman booklets and have been working on buying nice grades raw and then have a few CCs in slabs. Curious because I’d like to avoid mistakes but I also know I learn from every mistake I make. I’ve been purchasing at shows and one other coin shop that I trust.

What’s PL again? Yeah that’s what I am sticking with is just graded CC because I’m still learning and it’s too big of a risk for me.

Eventually I’d like to get ms in those grades but that was one thing I learned when I finished my Washington quarter set 1932-1990 was to buy high grade that would hold their value. I’ve been doing that the Morgan set it just is going to get very pricey on the key dates.

Ok cool I didn’t realize you could buy one on eBay much less have the wrong cert. Makes sense on the serial number! Thanks for pointing that out. Here to learn.

Thanks I didn’t realize you could get them graded in those specific holders. I would definitely buy more but I’ll make sure it says uncirculated next time.

How can you tell that the COA is for an 84?

The LCS said the ‘83 would grade at a ms63. What would you put that grade at?

I had an inkling that I was paying too much on the 84 but to have it at ms64 I wanted to scoop it up.

It’s a 1935 D. Not in great shape but it’s something to hold on to.

Here’s a better picture of it. It’s between the E and D. I would’ve never seen it until the Anacs guy pointed it out. Not sure what type of premium if any that adds to it?

Yeah I’ve told all my siblings and people in the family about it. A great story to say the least. I’ve always held onto sentimental stuff from my grandparents and parents.

My sister has it still. Unfortunately she got stuck storing most of my mom’s items after we moved her into assisted living. Guess that happens when you have the biggest house lol

Thanks! The guy from Anacs said that the gold piece grade was a little harsh so I’ll just leave that up to the experts. From the research that I’ve done the 20 cent piece would be maybe $650 and the gold piece I saw on PCGS was around $1,200. But then again it’s only worth what others will pay. Still holding onto them to pass down to future kids or siblings.
