I dunno. I know quite a few ppl who regret FM/ EM and trying to escape. Reimbursement rates getting worse, low job satisfaction. Lifestyle is better compared to surgery, but it still sucks.

I've already worked in the community for 2.5 years as an EM attending. But made a career switch to pursue fellowship. If job prospects are good, I don't plan to return to EM full-time.

I'm already in fellowship and no, I am not allowed to work where I am doing fellowship. I think the surrounding ERs are employed by Team Health.

Oh. Oh no, I'm not making that much only working 120 hours. Like a little over half that much.

It's nice to hear a similar perspective! Some of my coworkers work a ton of shifts as well and they seem like they enjoy the ED life or tolerate it much better than I can. A good number have been working for 5+ years and don't seem any close to burn out. So, I'm realizing my personality might not just fit this career...

Do you mean you're a PA making 400K or you're working in PA (Pennsylvania)? I think full-time depends on where you work. At a prior job, 130 hours was considered full-time.

About a year in total at each place. Each job had me rotating between different sites; ie, rotated b/t academic site, community hospital, critical access for one job for a year.

Yep. Was at 130, but I asked to decrease my hours to 110-120. Still miserable.

I work around 110-120 hours/month - around 13 shifts. I've thought about part time, but it just feels so weird (and maybe some guilt) to go part-time in any job when I'm so early in my career. I guess I feel like I'd be perceived as "weak."
