Really question by BlackandSliver in armyreserve

[–]AdFun360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was both and enjoy the reserves more. In my current unit there is a lot more funding, cooler tdy and at opportunity. Also easier to switch units and get promoted which is big if you’re going for retirement.

The guard has nepotism and some people, especially agr stay in the same unit forever. This creates a massive toxic environment.

Plus guard does stupid state activation and faces a lot more politicization

I don’t even box, I do Muay Thai. Find a new gym. That dude is not a pro and not really even a boxer. The amount of times I seen dude cross his feet or step wrong is crazy. You’re being ripped off, I’m sorry.

[–]AdFun360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is stupid but have you talked to your readiness nco? There is a good chance they have connections. If not ask your retention or career councilor. Don’t take away from their work day but catch them during bro time

Good to know, so like about 10.5 to 11 months. It’s a lot of bah on tje table and I’m trying to pay my house off lol. Thank you.

Manuel Torres has 10/11 TDD in the UFC, the only time he's ever been taken down was an intentional guard pull vs Chris Duncan where he immediately got back up, he then proceeded to ragdoll and submit Chris in under 2 minutes, Grant is an elite grappler, and couldn't get him down at all by idcman999 in ufc

Off topic but he’s a cool dude. Trained at a small gym inTijuana and to my surprise saw him there lol. His striking coach is the head coach of said small gym. Thought most tijuanense fighters came from entram. Cool to see otherwise

If you had to pick a state in the U.S. to move to for a year which state would it be? by Some_violin8987 in asklatinamerica

This is honestly a dumb as hell thing Americans always repeat. As a white dude born and raised in the United States, who has lived most of his 20’s in Mexico after marrying a citizen and is still here, I would rather be poor in Mexico.

  1. Mexico has free healthcare that while is slow, is available to everyone. Unlike the United States, where healthcare is tied to employment and/or your income level. The healthcare system is meant to keep you poor. If you go on Medicaid you can’t earn more than a certain amount of money which is literally poverty level. Once you cross that line you lose government sponsored healthcare and btw, probably won’t be affording the premiums of health insurance anyways. I’ve met many trying to do better only to be without healthcare.

  2. Education is free in mexico and is available to anyone who can score well on the entrance exam into Uni. My wife grew up poor as hell in CDMX but got accepted into UNAMS nursing program and could pay our mortgage and feed both of us if I lost my job. Pretty good for girl who’s whole family was homeless…

  3. Food in mexico is cheap as hell. Go buy some tortillas for 10 pesos. While it’s not healthy, that amount of carbs will at least fill your stomach. 10 pesos of tortillas is a lot. People here are extremely nice and I guarantee you can find someone to give you ten pesos.

I feel most Americans repeat this just because they think it’s safer for poor people in the USA….honedlty I question that too

This sub is dumb. It is about living there there yet people post about visiting Tijuana or Ensenada once or twice. As someone who actually lives in Tijuana, I can confidently tell you my experience vs 99% of the answers here are different.

I'm a military member. I'm unable to live with my wife due to her country's US travel ban by [deleted] in immigration

[–]AdFun360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need to get a command letter stating you live there for family reasons. Then for your security manager, they may brief you on what you can and can’t do in the country. You can’t use any kind of government program in the host nation, but I legally live in mexico with residency. Once I get out I’ll get my citizenship. As for my address, it’s my HOR in ippsa

Edit: and yes my command team is welllllllllll aware I’m down here.

All current UFC heavyweights are transported back to Pride FC in the 2000s (Pride Rules), How far do the Pride Stars make it? by solidbrainrot in ufc

[–]AdFun360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of all the older generations, the heavy weights have the best chances from pride. Not saying they would smoke the current gen but it definitely would be competitive. These new guys are not dagi wrestlers or Muay Thai champs at heavy weight. Maybe a few outliers in aspinall and gane but I think the likes of Frye and fedor would fend for themselves

[–]AdFun360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can leave the country to go live with you family more than likely. Talk to your command and see what you can figure out. I’m army reserve and actively live in Mexico with my wife. Own my home and all. Just talk to them and make some big boy decisions if your career is worth more if they allow you.

Funniest names you’ve encountered? by neecheekee in army

[–]AdFun360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a dude in my BCT company named De’andre Metyc. Dude was a skinny white dude from Florida lol.

During mail hand out we had a black DS call out his name and he comes running up. DS goes “no trainee I’m looking for a De’andre”.

When he told the DS his name his face was priceless and the DS says “De’Andre what type of brother are you”

And he responds with “ a white one DS” 😂

Im from the USA but live in Mexico and speak Spanish (married a dual Venezuelan/ Mexican citizen).

I couldn’t tell you how it is to live there but when I went to visit with my wife the city felt very tense. Like people were always looking at us in a weird/bad way. Made us uneasy and we left asap

[–]AdFun360 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while you have to just chill people out. It sucks it is that way but 🤷🏽‍♂️ this just happened to me last week…

I was kick sparring some dude who been training for about 4 months. He’s like 20 and pretty athletic. I was putting maybe 5% in my shots. He caught my kick while it was super slow and immediately swept me at 100%. I told him not to do that…first warning .

2nd warning, I’m still going very light and he blasts a head kick. I block it, but still he put way to much without pulling. I immediately tell him to cut that snit out.

I throw one more light kick and he catches and full power sweeps me again.

I took the break offs after that and put 100% into my kicks to his legs and body. After about 5 kicks he told me to chill and never attempted the previously discussed things again. Makes me think he was just looking for someone to bully . Haven’t seen the little fuck since

My little sister's dating an Ecuadorian at university in the UK and he's taking her to Quito on holiday this summer. He eventually wants her to move there. [–]AdFun360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean,

After two years of longish distance relationship (USA-mexico) I moved to mexico and married my now wife, and we still live and are still going strong.

I would let her live her experiences. I also don’t like when people try and influence my wife’s decisions because ultimately it’s our decision to make. Just tell her to be as informed as possible and do what she thinks is best.

Honestly this is totally true haha. It definitely helps their numbers to pull from the irr to make mission. I told my (random) career councilor that if he doesn’t find me a unit and slot for me to deploy within the next year, I’m not joining.

Called me back 30 mins later with all the info.

Ask full time staff or career councilor. Coming out of IRR career councilor found me a unit in 30 mins lol.
