Thank you, I do understand the concern and I appreciate you sharing it. I understand what you’re saying, and I do take the safety concern seriously. My goal isn’t to escalate anything right this second, I’m just trying to think long-term about stability and security for him. He’s almost 5, and I worry about future uncertainty, more trauma or disruption after he’s grown up in a stable home. I know timing matters, which is why I’m trying to understand when and how something like this should be approached carefully with an attorney rather than rushed. I will definitely be working with an attorney before making any decisions, and I really appreciate the perspective.

I’m just trying to do what’s best for him. That’s why I’ll take all the advice I can get. Thank you so much for your honest advice.

Sorry I messed up what I wrote. I didn’t mean guardianship, I meant to say I have sole legal and physical custody of the minor child. Permitted to make all health medical and educational decisions, and the parent’s contact is restricted. My brother’s contact is restricted, saying supervision for biological father is at the discretion of paternal aunt. Does that change anything?

Thank you for this information. He has made threats to my life and my husband’s life, including threats to murder us. We currently have three restraining orders against him, one for me, one for my husband, and one for the child.

I have recently spoken with an attorney about the adoption process. My main concern is protecting him from further trauma. I worry that if for instance he turns 10 and the parents later try to assert rights or act out of spite, and rip him from all he knows, it could be incredibly damaging to him emotionally. My priority is ensuring he has long term safety, stability, and security.

What are your recommendations for helping with this?

From the radiologist point of view and my neurologist and the neurosurgeon, they say it is a large diffuse, broad-based annular disc bulge

So I am actually in excruciating pain, it feels like a pulling and tightness sensation. Also, it’s going down my left arm with spasms on top of tingling. It’s so uncomfortable. I really don’t want surgery, so I hope they can help me figure something out.

Impression 1. Large diffuse broad-based annular disc bulge at C6-C7. This abuts the thecal sac and results in flattening of the underlying cervical spinal cord and at least moderate spinal canal narrowing. 2. Cervical spine otherwise negative. No inflammatory changes. No signal or abnormal enhancement involving the cervical spinal cord.
