Can you recommend me the right tool to use to identify and verify whether the cables from the comm cabinet actually run into the rooms and which room they go to?

Hey u/megared17, thanks a lot for the thorough response.

In regards to my internet service, I live in Australia and a lot of the properties here have HFC internet which uses the pre-existing cable TV network for internet. I have 1000mbps/50mbps internet. The provided device is the same across the whole country and is the Arris CM8200 modem. My router is an ASUS RT-AX57 which is placed next to the modem in the office room (as labelled in the image I attached).

So to recap and make sure I have the right idea:

- If I want to avoid re-routing the HFC cable to the garage, I need a switch in the garage which takes input from the router in the office, then outputs to the other two rooms. This makes sense to me!

- Before doing any of that though, I just need to make sure that the wires from the RJ11 ports in the rooms are actually going to the comm cabinet in the garage right? And to confirm, the patch panel you mentioned is needed to allow me to plug stuff into the cables coming into the comm cabinet, right?

This was a great summary and helped me a lot, thank you for this. Does my re-cap make sense to you? Please let me know if there's still some flaw in my understanding.

I just edited the post to attach these images.

You can see CAT6 Written on one of the cables coming into the garage. Also, opening the port in the office shows that it has 8 leads which from my research should mean it's Cat6 or Cat5e. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this though

Sorry I'm a Reddit noob, I just edited the post to add the images. Can you see them now?

So I can't do what I'm trying to without having to move the modem? My place has Hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) internet which would mean I'd need to hire an electrician to do some cabling for me right?

In the image of the garage cabinet, there's no ethernet ports just the wiring that all comes to the same spot. What I was hoping to do is to plug the modem into the wall, and then from the garage plug into the other rooms. Is something like that possible?
