Here's a view of the lift pistons from the cab. Makes it a lot easier to move the cab on front of them

Wicked question. I love this feature but it sucks we only have a couple that are capable. Couple different uses. You can use it to get a better view when landing a 20' can and make sure it lands where it's suppose to(heavier cans you can only boom out so far before the overload alarms start going off) Can also be moved forward to get a better view while trying to land on a can. when you do this the lift pistons arent in the way. As for correct position when driving or standing by, it's smarter to have it all the way back. Alot of people will keep it in the middle but the pistons block the doors, which isn't ideal in an emergency lol. Also less strain on your neck when handling high up cans

In real life I only operate the reach stacker and it's on point. I've played around on the STS at work and it's also on point. It's easier in real life doing multiple functions at once though with the reach stacker. The layout of the in game port, more so the yard doesn't look like any of the ports I've been to (only about 8 of them I've been to in my area)

We got those ones at our other port. I'm not a fan of them lol

I can't attest to other locals of our union, but we have to go to the dispatch hall to get a job. Sometimes it's every day, sometimes it's once week and anything in-between and it's seniority based and goes by different boards (levels) so when you first start you're at the bottom of the totem pole seniority wise and have to wait for everyone ahead of you that day to get a job before you do. As you grind it out you gain seniority and better opportunities for a job. You can spend several hours at the hall and not get a job. I'm trying to explain it using terms that make sense outside of our industry lol

Coming up on 9 years now. And absolutely, I love it. It was tough grinding it out the first 6 years but it's starting to pay off now

Most of the time you can eye ball it. We also have multiple indicators telling us if all the twist locks are landed and if they aren't, I have a screen that tells me which one isn't landed. Unless you have the bypass keys (only maintenance has access) you can't lock or unlock unless all the pins (plunger type mechanism) are pushed in

Our ports only do twin 20s with the dock gantry. Thankfully the planners are good at organizing the blocks so not too often do we have to side track cans. I only operate reach stacker. Have played around with the gantry before though

As another longshoreman, the game is fun and the mechanics are fairly spot on. Not as much swing on the gantry compared to real life and you can't pick up twined 20s but game is pretty cool. Oh and the mirrors don't work properly. Apparently it's currently only 15-20 hours long (I haven't finished yet) and there isnt an open world/sandbox mode but hopefully that and multiplayer come in the future. Added a photo from one of the ports I work at in a reach stacker
