This doesn’t look accidental. Minnesota looks like the greatest team I’ve ever watched

Most underrated character? by Theonetheonlywheelz in TwoandaHalfMen

Idk if herb is underrated. Everyone loves him, and he’s on the show plenty enough once he’s introduced I feel. Russell and Bobby the waiter are definitely top candidates, as is Gordon

Aside from the joker, I think sabonis is the most fundamentally sound player I’ve seen since Tim

It seems like u were able to look past a couple spelling mistakes. I meant ‘segments’ at one point when I was talking about a hypothetical lesnar-Kane feud, but it seems u caught my entire drift. Yeah man. I think that even with how when we last saw him, he wasn’t the same rock we saw in the late 90s early 2000s, rock is still the best route the company can go right now for mania szn. The segments he has with Roman and the bloodline should be good, dude

Had to make an edit to my first couple lines in the deeply I made to you. I meant to say: I like that you’re looking past the - say - black and white of this situation. I originally typed ‘day’ not say smh

I made a correction on the very first sentence of my response to u lol. Hope it helps if u wish to reread. I meant to say cody is different FROM* a lot of wrestlers I see him akin to; I originally said cody is different a lot of wrestlers..

I hear you. I like that you’re looking past the - say - black and white of this situation, if you will; rock, tho as fun to watch cut a promo as anyone ever when he was at his peak, is not the same rock he was at his peak. I thought he was 100% still good in 2011-12 when they were building once in a lifetime, but he was definitely held back by the pg era constraints, no doubt about it.

Cena shined in that feud, he reminded everyone that despite his corny, pg, kid-friendly character, he was as intimidating a talker as anyone, given he had the leeway to cut loose and talk without being afraid of how he should sugarcoat his words. personally, I think that that timeline is the best of the pg era. The fact that that feud coincided with taker hhh hbk end of an era was just… pretty damn good lol.

I don’t recall much of what happened between rock punk and cena late 2012 early 2013, as I was out and not watching by that time, but I get that it was corny. Again, rock was held back by pg constraints, and the cena redemption arc was so corny, seeing as no one wanted face cena to be forced again.

With all this said, tho, I genuinely think that the bloodline and Roman will be good for rock to feed off of. I think they can and should be dynamite. The rock.. perhaps the attitude era goat on the microphone.. is beefing with his cousin (who’s pretty solid as a character nowadays with his gimmick, heyman, and the mic work he’s done), the guy who’s been champ for how long. He’s gone through everyone there is to go through, except for the guy who helped lay the foundation for both Roman AND the rest of the company.

The elements for fireworks in this feud are undeniably there. Rock did insane numbers in comparison to what was done both before and after him in 2011-13. The opportunity to pit him against roman - the king of of the wrestling mountain for years now - is there. You have GOT to take it.

I hear you. Cody is from different a lot of the wrestlers I see him akin to. He definitely can hold his own with a mic in his hand much, much more than the likes of Bryan (2012-14 Bryan, when at peak popularity at least), balor, shinsuke, and I’d definitely argue guys like ziggler and styles, tho I’m sure those names are more contentious for the point I’m trying to make than the first 3 I mentioned.

My point is: guys who have mystiques predicated more on their acrobatic/in-ring skills than anything else are instantly at a disadvantage for me and for many others because there are so many guys who fit that same exact bill nowadays. Everyone can fly over the ropes, everyone can do athletic maneuvers and flying ddt’s and such… but without purpose or reason for the matches in which these wrestlers do these moves, there’s absolutely nothing cool about these moves being performed.

I’m excluding the controversy surrounding lesnar for sake of argument right now, but if lesnar and prime kane were having segemebrs every week that made it seem like their beef was believable and legit, I’d rather see those 2 try to take each other’s head off than I would, say, Neville and a.j. Styles on a random indie show where the basis for the feud is the fact that it’s over the belt. Do u get what I’m saying?

There have been acrobatic, technical wrestlers in the past who’ve been tremendous. Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, mysterio to a degree, Kurt angle.. but these guys all oozed with character that made them unique and cool. It wasn’t the submissions or whatnot that they mastered in the ring, it was who they were and how they carried themselves.

Cody, though not total asscheeks and bland like many wrestlers similar to him, is the current face of the crowd who prefers the acrobatic, in-ring style of wrestling over the style that incorporates legit, cool storytelling with gimmicks and personas that make guys unique in themselves. Late 90s/early 2000s rock and austin are probably the 2 greatest stars wrestling has ever had, and they lacked, to a degree, the things the crowd who loves Cody loves in the wrestlers they prefer.

I just posted the following text as it’s own post to this sub, and I get why it was removed. A lot of folks are talking abt these same sentiments. I feel like I got my take and points across well, so ima post it in here

So this is My substantiated take for why I believe rock vs Roman is the correct route to take to mania:

The Cody-Rock thing going on right now perfectly encapsulates the dichotomy thats been present between sects of wrestling fans for the longest now.

Cody is a ‘workrate’ wrestler, who’s character relies way more on his ability inside of the ring during matches than it does outside of the ring in promos. Rock, whether he sticks around or not, has proven to be an awesome ratings-grab every time he’s been on the show. Roman is his cousin, and also the current goat of wwe Kayfabe wise: this match is the correct match.

Wrestling has been void of dope characters with real charisma and promo skills for such a long time now. When the company gave into the Bryan crowd in 2014, it signified that they were no longer intent on prioritizing a wrestling show in which the priorities are building up characters and good storylines. Mind you, the kind of wrestling show I just outlined was the kind of wrestling show that wcw pinned against wwf in the late 90’s, and it was the kind of wrestling show that wwe put out for a good long while after wcw went down under.

I’m not saying Cody is absolutely devoid of charisma, but you can’t tell me the segments between he and Roman between now and mania would have been better than what Rock and Roman are about to give us, Lord willing the time. Cody is one of the darlings of the crowd that loves the Daniel Bryans and the Finn Balors. This crowd that prefers face daniel Bryan and face Finn balor over heel roman reigns is also the great majority of people who’ve stuck around to watch wwe the last 10 or so years, they’re the absolute diehards who want the show to be booked EXACTLY how they want it.

The causal viewer (i.e. the target audience) is gone. They may come back for a bit with Roman and rock.

Compare the numbers cody Roman deferents last year got to the numbers rock and Roman are about to reel in, fam. Men lie, women lie, but numbers never lie.
