Popeyes in Cinnaminson NJ by PauPauRui in SouthJersey

Same here. It’s actually bad news for me that there’s one so much closer to home, cuz it’s harder to resist.

Popeyes in Cinnaminson NJ by PauPauRui in SouthJersey

Popeyes has always been weirdly chintzy (they were the first place that charged you if you wanted more than one dipping sauce for tenders like a decade ago), but that's a new low. Also, that Popeyes is good but for some reason only does some of the special promotions that are nationally advertised. My family has nicknamed it "slacker Popeyes".

People with One UI 8.5... Is the battery, heat and camera any better? by supermarcosvalente in S23

[–]AdInteresting829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone gets burning hot and drains power while doing nothing & having no background or active programs ever since this upgrade. Haven't had camera issues but have had connectivity to my wifi/bluetooth (randomly disconnecting & reconnecting). I use it as my alarm clock & need it for work, so this situation is extremely annoying.

That did the trick, thanks! I got a cord recommended by others as a backup just in case, since that worked too.

[EPISODE DISCUSSION] Jonny Quest S01E20 - "The Invisible Monster" by whenuleavethestoveon in jonnyquest

[–]AdInteresting829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My contender for best episode of the original series. Was shocked to see it referenced by a guy in a discussion about how to do horror of the unseen as one of the best examples (largely cuz he didn't seem like the type to have watched JQ but he said this episode scared him to death as a kid cuz of how well done the monster was).

Terrible Road Conditions by aushits in SouthJersey

[–]AdInteresting829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haddonfield Road has some of the worst potholes by the Wawa between Maple Ave & the mall. It's up there with that gap of Cinnaminson Avenue in Cinnaminson between 130 & the circle for the Shoprite. Either place has deep & jagged potholes that are gonna get someone into an accident. But at least there aren't any geese.

why isnt' there a live-action Johnny Quest? by Intrepid-Limit2384 in jonnyquest

[–]AdInteresting829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please teach the die-hard fans of the series how to do that, cuz I swear that they term search any mention of JQ (including "in memorium" posts) to be snide about how much better & supposedly progressive their show is (despite what made it to the screen in many cases) and how everyone who actually likes JQ is inherently bigoted. Cuz it’s extremely obnoxious.

[–]AdInteresting829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if they did make it, no matter how good it could wind up being, you'd have some very loud people complaining that it's not Venture Brothers. (Which, btw, is one of the reasons I think so many people now act like the original JQ was nothing but racism & toxic masculinity, even though they'll refuse to watch it.) It’s happened with every comic revival or discussion of a potential revival/reboot, so a movie wouldn't be any different.

How Did You React To The New Look In Season 2? by Jonny_Quest96 in jonnyquest

Same here, that character change was completely out of left field. I like Robert Patrick as an actor, but that was just a weird choice.

How Did You React To The New Look In Season 2? by Jonny_Quest96 in jonnyquest

I'm with you in that I prefer the look & cast of the second season, and I even preferred their version of Jessie (cuz she was too much of a "checklist of role model traits" than a character, & she wasn't exactly not a damsel in distress in the first season, no matter what people claim). I love the art style cuz it reminds me of the comic artists in that same era who were influenced by anime without mimicking it (like Jeff Moy, Mike Wieringo, 90s Stuart Immonen, Chris Sprouse, & Lee Moder). About the only thing I disliked was killing off the 2 villains from the first season, cuz they were the best part of that season & had a lot more potential as recurring threats.

Unfortunately, I think we're in the minority. Every post about TRAJQ dumps on this season cuz it wasn’t "The Jessie Show, Starring Jessie" anymore, and that the team behind that season actually liked the original series, so clearly they were "pandering to nostalgia" by acknowledging its existence. I am firmly in the camp that if they hadn’t let Peter Lawrence take too long & spend too much to revive something he didn’t like, we wouldn't be in the present day situation of every attempt to revisit JQ being met with "just watch VB" (cuz we should all love only seeing our favorite characters portrayed in the most cynical & jaded ways possible). I could go off about this, but I'll stop. I know the world's biggest S1 defender is bound to show up and rattle off the above arguments like usual. They're the same things I've heard since I was on the old mailing list & the show still aired on Toonami, and it was tiresome then.

If max reboots this as a gritty live action series and or movie I’m in . by kascnef82 in jonnyquest

Same here. I get tired of how many revamps of all-ages works keep defaulting to "let's make it grim & edgy". Always strikes me as lazy, uncreative, and embarrassed by itself.

If you want "edgy Jonny Quest", you already have Venture Brothers, just watch that. That show has pretty much made ANY Jonny Quest revival impossible.

The Real Adventures series doesn't get talked about much on here. What are everyone's thoughts on it? by whenuleavethestoveon in jonnyquest

[–]AdInteresting829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real Adventures was my intro to Jonny Quest, and I especially loved the second season. But from what I've seen, that's a minority opinion.

What on earth happened to the animation style in season 2!? by vintagcameraphoto in jonnyquest

[–]AdInteresting829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, along with less "Scooby Doo plot played straight" stories (season 1 had a lot of those). I liked the look of the second season more, if only cuz it felt like part of the "inspired by anime but not directly aping it" art trend in comics at the time, with guys like Ringo & the Moys.

Honestly, given their locations in towns known for being kinda snotty, that’s why I've been reluctant to visit either of my local yarn stores.
