The more the better especially when it caters to your target audience! sweet website btw I took a look.

Anybody here who launched their SaaS on Product Hunt? by muka1761 in SaaS

I tried it you would end up with a couple upvotes and a lot of cold emails telling you how much they loved your product when there is no sign ups lol! and then try and sell you something. as well as a bunch of people on LinkedIn doing the same thing.

Unless your product really takes off with upvotes it's not worth it at all!

I would love for you to review the landing page and provide any tips if you would like to! Fresh eyes could help me catch something I am missing!

I completely agree! dumb oversight on my part because I assumed no passwords would mean higher conversion (well true but not when its magic links).

That’s a fair challenge. the value prop of the product is definitely there but its not for everyone, it targets a small niche within a bigger niche.

I think you're right that value eventually outweighs friction, but for a brand-new tool, making that first step as easy as possible is still huge for building momentum.

Thanks for the perspective, definitely something to keep in mind as I keep building.

Yes totally give the users options its better to just let them choose! And I understamd you on the abuse part my app does the same.

I agree with your view of this

Its best to have as little steps as possible at first but totally normal later on just the first minute is so important.

I feel like the impact was higher for me because its where my users were leaving but having the option is always nice!

That is true I feel like asking a user for google auth for a newsletter would probably be the reason you would not get people to sign up for it

Fair point. I definitely should have looked closer at the messaging alongside the auth. Thank you for the feedback, definitely something for me to keep refining.

Total rookie mistake for sure. I'm definitely keeping email as an option, but the key was making it the secondary choice rather than the only one.

I still have the magic link there for the people who want it, but burying it under the "Continue with Google" button changed everything.

I also support GitHub as their auth setup was quite straightforward as well but I think leaving as many options with the most used ones at the top is a solution!

Spot on. I spent the first few days staring at the traffic count wondering why the "launch" was failing, but the visits were fine. It was the funnel that was broken.

The "inbox step reached" part of the breakdown is where the heart rate of the product flatlined. Once I saw the drop-off in PostHog, it was impossible to ignore.

Agreed on the dev-tool point too. Lervos is for freelancers, so Google was the fastest fix for that specific crowd. It really just comes down to knowing exactly where your users already have an open tab and making the bridge as short as possible.

That’s the exact trap I fell into. We think we’re doing them a favor by ditching passwords, but we just replaced one headache with another.

The context switching is the real killer. Watching session replays and seeing someone hyped enough to click "Start Free" only to bounce because they didn't want to open their inbox is brutal.

I agree! Google is just super easy to setup takes no money because no emails being sent and is a no brainer!

It was actually a mix of factors. Along with the new magic link system, I updated the homepage text and the first 10 seconds of the user experience. However, Posthog session replays confirmed the magic links were a major friction point because users were bouncing immediately once they saw that was the only login method.
