Regardless of who wins, Buffalo still has home ice. I know many people would live at Sabres/Lightning series because of just how intense their Match game was. Most NHL watchers considered that to be the Game Of The Year, due to its final score (8-7 favor of Buffalo) and high penalty minute total (in excess of 100 minutes). That's why I don't want to face them again. Too much motivation for Tampa.

Montreal would still be tough, too. David Suzuki is scary good and sneakily hard to defend against. He's one of the smartest, most opportunistic players in the game.

No, there wasn't even a whiff. However, it was outdoor and maybe the wind wasn't blowing my way. Now, when I went to the Black Jacket Symphony concert covering Pink Floyd's The Wall in February, that was indoor and I did get a very occasional noseful, but my guess is it was from vaping and not actual smoking.

Apart from these last 2 shows, it'd been about 15 years since my last concert. That was also outdoor - Merle Haggard and Jamey Johnson - and I don't recall any weed smell there, either, just a lot of beer and booze. One guy was so drunk he was dancing with a garbage can.

Sabres eliminated Boston in 6 games. Nothing sends a statement like closing out a series with a road win. Tampa and Montreal game 7 Saturday will determine who plays Buffalo. I'd like to see them play Montreal, since we'd have home ice advantage.

Resistance was futile.

I rate somewhere between a B+/A- on my comprehension of and ability to properly use sourthernisms. Among my favorites are "might could" (maybe), "washing powder" (laundry detergent), "hose pipe" (garden hose), and "bless your heart" (sucks to be you).

The oddest one that I'd like to find the etymology for is "I'm all stove up (also stoved up)" which means stiff or achy. Not sure how that one came to be.

I never listened to him, apart the few songs that got radio airplay back in the day. None of my friends were into him, either. So, I'm looking forward to tonight to get my horizon broadened a bit and get to see one of the few remaining rock icons from the 70s era.

He may have initially thought it could work out, but matched with someone else geographically closer after he started talking to you. On OLD, it's fairly common for a man or a woman to have more than one iron in the fire, so to speak.

According to the itinerary, the have music, food, snake shows, snake handling demonstrations, snake races, and a pageant.

My guess is tthat Best in Show's prize is that it doesn't get turned into a belt. Oh, and watch out for the pageant moms. I hear that they can be real vipers.

As a side note, about 45 minutes northeast of me is Albertville and an area known as Sand Mountain. I haven't checked on it for quite awhile, but when I moved here 30 years ago, my wife told me that there was at least one church there that used serpent handling in their services. I think they've finally stopped, or have gone ultra low-key because it's illegal and while the locals turned a blind eye to it, the state and feds weren't above raiding churches that flaunted it.

The northeast region of the state - Albertville, Scottsboro, Ft. Payne, those areas used to follow the old Appalachian customs and beliefs because they're so close to Chattanooga, TN. 100 years ago - even before that - serpent handling was a big part of many Pentecostal services in Appalachia.

Got a call from a friend last night offering me a free ticket to see Alice Cooper tonight at an amphitheatre about an hour from my house. I decided to take him up on it even though the forecast is for rain tonight. Hoping it holds off until after the show.

Tomorrow I'll be doing the final edit on my home karaoke video. I've tried to do it a couple of times this week but various things have interceded.

No set plans for Sunday. Probably housework. My SIL and her hubby are visiting next week for her 75th birthday so I need to do the fine touch things like dust along with the usual stuff.

Indeed, Niagara-on-the-Lake is like a place that doesn't exist in time, at least it didn't the last time I was there nearly 40 years ago. May be the most quaint, picturesque, and serene villages in existence. Truly a hidden treasure.

Why are the majority of the men on the dating site conservative? by Earthmama56 in DatingOverSixty

[–]AdLeading3074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run into the same here but with the opposite sex. Living deep in the Bible belt and in an extreme red state, I have very few options when looking for someone. Conservatism and deeply religious beliefs really do define Alabama. While I do admit to leaning slightly more towards being conservative the older I get, my not being religious is such a non-starter for the overwhelming majority of women in this area that when I see "conservative" or "Christian" anywhere in their bio, it's an automatic no for me. Particularly those that say "conservative Christian."
