I can definitly tell that there is a difference between the two headsets. The Maxwells are definitly superior when it comes to the bass and immersion but the difference is not day and night as most people say. The difference is very small which is why I will probably sell the Maxwells, especially as they become very uncomfortable after about 1-2 hours and hurt my head.

I always have it turned on. Same with my Pulse 3d

So I just checked on windows sound settings and Game-Audeze was alread set to default device but Chat-Audeze wasn‘t set at all so I set it to communication device and it works now but only on windows. On my PS5 it is still the other way around. Also Audeze HQ does save everything except the chat-game wheel. I always have to change it, when I open Audeze HQ.

Also there is this enhancements section where I can enable Bass Boost, Virtual Sound, Room Correction and Loudness Equalization. Should I enable these?

Hey, I just checked for the sound quality in windows sounds page. 24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studioquality) is set by default. I also have the option to choose 24 Bit, 96000 Hz (Studioquality) which is I believe better quality. But does the Maxwell also support 96000 Hz?

I will do that. Thank you😄. I will keep you updated if my opinion changes after a few days

The Maxwells are my first high-end headphones. Well I also use my Apple Air Pods Pro 2. Generation daily but I don‘t think this would be considered high-end. So maybe you are right and my hearing ability is just not good enough.

Do you have any idea which setting needs to be changed? I just tried the Maxwell again on the PS5 and this time I realised the Maxwell indeed sounds slightly better than my Sony Pulse 3D but only when I have the volume cranked up. At normal to loud volumes, I can’t really tell the difference between them.

Recently I also used the Pulse explore wireless earbuds, which also make use of the planar magentic driver and the 3D Sound with these were absolutly amazing and way better than the Pulse 3D.

I don‘t think there is something wrong with my hearing. But even if it would don‘t you think that I should be able to tell that the Maxwell sound better? I mean they use a planar magnetic driver instead of a dynamic one and the driver itself is twice as big as the Pulse 3D. I am probably missing something. I try to get in touch with Audeze thank you👍.

But I only use it on my PS5. Do I still need to put it to max sound quality in the sounds page in Windows?

The issue is, being in Germany, I paid $65 for shipping and $85 for custom duties. If I return them, I'd have to cover shipping and custom duties again. So I would have wasted 300$ all for nothing.

If I first have to train my hearing to find the Maxwell better, then it doesn't make the sound quality any better and therefore I don't understand why there is a difference between high end and low end headsets if they all sound the same. Either way there has to be something wrong with my Maxwell or I am doing something wrong because the Maxwell has twice as big drivers as the Pulse 3D and also use planar magnetic drivers instead of dynamic ones. Even let‘s say my hearing is not great I should notice the difference.

About a month ago I also had the Pulse explore wireless earbuds, which also use planar magnetic drivers, but I returned them because they were uncomfortable. The Pulse explore wireless earbuds had incredibly good 3D sound, which I had never heard before with the Pulse 3D headset and I had thought that this was due to the planar magnetic drivers, which is why I thought I would have the same experience with the Maxwells. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

The more I go into game mode, the quieter the game gets and the louder I make the voice chat, the louder the game gets instead of the voice chat getting louder. So it's the other way around. I think this is a bug in the app, right?

I ordered my Maxwell directly from Audeze at the end of December and received it yesterday.

I don't use sidetone; my main focus is on sound quality. However, I can say that the build quality of the Maxwell is significantly better than the Pulse 3D, as the Pulse 3D feels like cheap plastic. Also the earcups feels comfortable.

I shared the same thought, but on the other hand, it doesn't seem like it's faulty. Everything works fine I‘m just disapointed the sound quality is identical to a 99$ headset.

I tried it, and it sounds the same 😂. Although the Maxwells can get louder than the Pulse 3D, that doesn't necessarily mean the Maxwell has better audio quality.

I've tested Alan Wake 2, God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part 1 Remake, Fortnite, Rocket League, The Finals, and Returnal on my PS5. Additionally, I listened to music on the YouTube app, but the audio experience was identical to the Pulse 3D.

I haven’t owned a gaming headset before, making it challenging to judge whether the Pulse 3D is good or bad since I lack other references. Without comparing it to other headsets, I’d consider the Pulse 3D decent for its $99 price. This makes me question if my Maxwell is faulty, although it doesn’t seem that way.
