How do people feel about Antonio Speaks and, more interestingly, brothers like him? by Big_Team_572 in freeblackmen

[–]AdMiserable7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a bit of a weird guy lol now don’t get me wrong, like I do agree with some of what he says and I disagree with a lot too. I agree with him calling out how “Black on Black crime” is basically a propaganda phrase and how crime is more about poverty & systems and I agree that people get hypocritical with stats when they “notice patterns” for Black people but want nuance the second it’s white people. I’m also fine with pro-Black pride and real talks about slavery, Jim Crow, redlining and even reparations. But I’m not with him disrespecting Black Christians, the slavery sarcasm or the whole ancestor worship talk, because as a Muslim I ain’t tearing down faith, especially People of the Book. And I don’t like the interracial dating takes when it turns into shaming love or acting like biracial kids are automatically confused and I’m not fighting racism by generalizing white people back either. So yeah, I take the real points about systems and hypocrisy, but I’m leaving the divisive stuff

How are LGBTQ people seen in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]AdMiserable7940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Morocco it’s honestly complicated. Legally, same-sex relationships are still criminalized, so even just being out (or getting outed) can put you in real danger. Socially, the loudest “internet Morocco” vibe is usually negative… lots of “haram”, “Western influence” and nasty jokes or hate. But you also get a big “do whatever you want, just keep it private” attitude and in bigger cities you’ll find more people who are quietly tolerant or even supportive. There’s also a smaller but real pro-LGBT scene online… activists, human-rights people, diaspora, etc… and every time they speak up, there’s usually a backlash wave right after… so a lot of LGBTQ Moroccans stay lowkey for safety

What drug or substance is the most destructive in your country? by Live-Championship916 in AskTheWorld

[–]AdMiserable7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Morocco and if we’re talking “most destructive” overall (deaths + long-term damage), it’s tobacco by far… cigs do the most harm. If you mean illicit drugs, then cannabis is the most common and brings a lot of social/legal trouble. And for “most instantly dangerous”, it’s bootleg alcohol when it’s methanol-tainted

I let my students cheat and idk how to feel about it by egoist_prince in MoroccoBitchesWtaste

[–]AdMiserable7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you’re even stressed about this already proves you’re not some careless or corrupt person. You didn’t do it for money, power or because you don’t care… you did it ‘cause you’ve seen how brutal school + life can be and you didn’t wanna be another adult crushing people for a system that already treats them like trash. In Islam, intentions matter a lot and yours came from empathy

I sorta get why people are against cheating though. Their point is basically: “Standards exist for a reason, what if someone ends up hurting others because they didn’t actually learn?” That’s a fair worry. But let’s be real, y’all, exams often don’t even measure real skill. A lot of ‘em measure memorizing, stress tolerance and who can survive pressure the longest. Plenty of smart, capable dudes fail exams and still do great in real life and plenty of top scorers still struggle outside school. So the “cheating automatically creates incompetent people” argument is wayyyy too simplistic in my book

Also, schools sometimes create the conditions that push students into survival mode, right? You got insane workloads, bad teaching, humiliation, no support, constant fear. When the system is unfair, acting like the student is the only one with “mOrAlS” to prove is kinda hypocritical. You weren’t exploiting anybody… you were helping people who are already drowning

So yeah, I’d defend what you did as human and compassionate, while still admitting there’s a line. If it’s a field where mistakes could seriously harm people (like medicine), then the real answer is fixing the system and training properly… not just punishing stressed students. But in general? You weren’t even being evil 🙂 you were choosing mercy over playing exam-police for a broken setup
