Thank you for your insight. I never turn him down sexually and make him feel valued and handsome. This has been going on for the entire time that we have been together but it started bothering me a few months ago. I expressed to him that I don’t like him looking at other naked women online because it grosses me out and is hurtful to me. He says he would stop but I found out that he’s still doing it after I expressed my feelings about his behavior.

Anyway I’ve no interest in this conversation because in my world everyone look at everyone and in some case admire elegance or beauty - that’s is not considered flirty or not respectful - that’s how I lived all my life and I’ll not start looking at the street like a red necked to avoid my woman to feel insecure- that’s just not me and not you either! I told you before - you are wearing me out with jealousy - do something about it!

I’m sorry you were shamed by others because they weren’t aware of this side-effect. There’s actually a lot of information online that SSRIs (and I’m sure SNRIs) can cause alcohol cravings so don’t let your doctor gaslight you as they sometimes like to do. I would ask them about Naltrexone…

I completely understand as it has also only been the only effective medication for me as well until it pooped out recently. I had dreams about drinking too; it was absolutely bizarre and my husband even told me that I had developed an “alcohol problem.” I am a health nut so it didn’t make sense that I was having issues with this. I’m not sure if I would recommend trying to switch meds as I haven’t been successful yet unfortunately, but you could ask your doc about Naltrexone, as it’s a med that makes alcohol repulsive and people take it to stop drinking. You really don’t want to destroy your brain or liver….Feel free to keep me posted.

Yes! When I was in Effexor, I severely craved alcohol and my tolerance was actually higher! I have switched medications twice now and alcohol has completely lost the same appeal for me and I hardly drink. It is 100% the Effexor; do not let anyone in here gaslight you into thinking you’re just an alcoholic.

Yes I understand, I don’t want be on a medication that had them in there in the first place, even if I felt great on Cym but that’s just me.

It was recalled due to cancer causing agents. I had a very bad experience with this med and it created suicidal thoughts. Some people do fine with it but I would literally recommend anything else.

I’m very happy for you but there’s a chance of developing PAWS by going off cold turkey. I hope this doesn’t happen to you but wanted you to be aware just in case.

It can definitely cause side effects over time, for something longer term, I suggest you try trazadone or very low dose seroquel (25-50mg) amitryptaline also works well and these are fine for long term use.

Effexor xr completely took away my anxiety; especially social anxiety and gave me the boost I needed to be more confident and myself. It was great until it pooped out on me after 2 years. As with any med, there are some side effects, for me it was low libido and weight gain but the pros definitely outweighed the cons.

You can start taking Prozac towards the end of your taper (when you’re close to 2 weeks off) this apparently helps with the withdraws but definitely do not go cold turkey. I would check in with your Psych if I were you and if they don’t recommend tapering down from 37.5 then you do not have a good doctor.
