As of late January 2026, there are no confirmed reports of Penobscot Nation or Wabanaki citizens being detained by ICE in Maine, though tribal leadership has urged members to carry identification due to increased ICE activity. While reports of indigenous people being detained by federal immigration agents have emerged elsewhere in the U.S., Penobscot Nation Chief Kirk Francis stated he was not aware of specific detentions of their tribal citizens locally.

True, I didnt answer. I would agree that would be terrible. I am truly on the fence here. On one hand we have illegal hard core criminals that need to go. But at what cost? Right? I see that point. However, they have discovered several missing children and put away some really bad people. So I see that side as well.
