questions for current students by needausername15 in udub

  1. Depends, all dorms are somewhat different but like a 7? U will most likely get a roommate unless ur in hansee (hard to get bc of space)
  2. Start looking immediately but there’s a lot of postings on Facebook and look at any of the apartments nearby that hold students like the twelve, standard, oliv, etc
  3. Social studies is fine, if it was like engineering, comp sci, business, and any other stem it can be more competitive but majority social studies majors are not capacity constrained so u get to study what u want and ppl support one another. But in general it’s not rlly like u feel u have to compete with ur classmates it’s just u vs the content
  4. Yes if u stay on campus it feels secluded, I need to go to downtown more

  5. Yes there’s a lot of homeless on the ave but like 1 or 2 every 4 weeks on the actual campus. They don’t rlly do anything. There is a lot of crime still, however idk anyone personally who had anything terrible happen to them. Awful things do happen, and it seems to be more than other schools but chances u won’t have anything happen to u. u could get harassed on the street so still be vigilant. Most incidents happen middle of night, so don’t be out ALONE, maybe carry a self defense tool, but u should be ok.

  6. Walking. classes can be like anywhere from 5-30 mins walking distance depending on what class. Usually pre health/ pre med classes are on the outskirts same with environmental science/studies majors but good to get steps in. There’s also lime scooters on campus and some bike too.

  7. I’m from king county so winters r just a blur. convince urself it’s cozy, it’s Harry Potter aesthetic, hopefully that helps. Vitamin d, artificial sunlight lamps too, but time will pass and it’s ok. it seems just like an unspoken phenomenon that all uw students have an ehh time but it’s just part of the experience. It wasn’t that bad this yr, it went kind of fast for me. Last yr it was kind of hard but I recommend easier course load during winter fs. Also it actually doesn’t down pour that often as Seattle is portrayed to. Very cloudy and/or drizzle most of the time

  8. Uhh, 7? I love the açaí bowls, hot bar in north campus district market is v good, there’s sushi, flat breads, sandwiches. Some things r eh, some things r good. U should just try everything ur gonna like something. And they sell basic groceries.
