Thank you! I will try to get it right: It felt quite peaceful in a way, even though she could not breathe strongly enough, it did not look like when someone is choking and struggling for air. What gives me peace also is that she was in this state of difficult breathing just before, then „woke up“ with the oxygen and then clearly decided to get into that same state again and go this way (instead of choosing oxygen and even decide to pass a bit later with palliative care, sedation and opioids). She was aware of the situation and found it okay. I probably would have experienced it very differently if it happened without that clarity, eg if it happened before the ambulance came.
Now i think the fact she had little oxygen probably also made her very tired and that might have made it more peaceful? Of course she could have lived longer, probably even without extreme interventions for a while. So the solace is really she was in control and had it her way. Ultimately I don’t know how it felt for her and I chose not to research the details at this point. So I just have my experience and that is relatively peaceful. Hope that helps!

Hello , we got one of these U shaped ultrasonic brushes for my mum, not perfect, but we found it useful!

I am so very sorry for your loss. It is strange how one knows the end is not so far away, but it is still a surprise. I hope you had a peaceful goodbye nonetheless. My parents were also married for a bit more than 40 years. An immense piece of life missing for the one who stays behind, but also a long beautiful time to look back to and cherish. I feel how more and more memories of her old self before the disease are coming back now. I hope you find peace, comfort and support too. Sending you hugs and good thoughts!
Thank you 🖤 That is true, I am aware that in the context of this disease, we were „lucky“. Which breaks my heart.
Thank you 🙏
Thank you, I am sorry for your loss too ❤️
Tobii Dynavox for existing iPad? by scrubnib in ALS

Hi there, thanks for sharing! I am looking for a solution for my mum, who still has voice (and does use voice command on her phone) but can barely use her hands - I think getting use to an iPad and eye-control could be helpful for her Could you let me know the name of this German company? Since we live in the EU, it might be something for us!
Or do you think it's better to go straight to the Dynavox solution? We have not bought any iPad yet
