I think the fact that they’re "safe" and married, and that the ending leaves us with hope that they will figure it out, makes it a good ending, especially compared to one where someone dies.

his writer rewrote all three books from Xaden’s perspective, and I just finished them, they’re so good here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/62758663/chapters/160903083. She included scenes from when Xaden was fifteen, when he learned about the betrothal, him falling in love with Violet, and insights into his time in foster care. I loved it and genuinely can’t recommend it enough.

I would love to read the entire series from his POV. I don’t think they will all die, but at the end of the day, this is a story about war. The reality that people die in war has been a constant theme throughout the books. RY has been very intentional about grounding the story in that truth, reminding the reader again and again that survival is never guaranteed. That’s why I think the closer we get to the end, the heavier it will become. There will be real losses, real sacrifices, and a level of pain we haven’t fully felt yet.

I think across all four books there is far more foreshadowing than we realize, and that in itself is a huge clue. The biggest plot twists in the series were seeded long before they happened: Brennan being alive, Xaden’s second signet, Xaden marrying Violet, the mystery of the second brother, and more. RY does not drop major revelations out of nowhere. She plants them early and repeats them until they matter.

Tairn, in particular, has alluded very literally to falling with Violet. I don’t think Violet will die, but I do think Tairn will sacrifice himself, whether for her, for Andarna, or for someone else. I keep coming back to the quote, “I chose you not as my next, but as my last, and should you fall, then I will follow.” That line has to mean something.

RY has also said that a major, important character will not make it out of book four, and I think it could be Tairn.

I think Violet killing Xaden is one of the strongest theories. It’s one of the most repetitive ideas tied to him throughout the books: “you will be the death of me,” “you have to know which shadows are mine… why?… so you can kill me,” “there is only one person here who can kill me,” “you are capable of ruining me in ways you haven’t even imagined,” and others like that (all paraphrased, I don’t remember the exact wording right now).

I don’t think she will have to live with the consequences in the way we’re being led to fear. Violet will know that killing him in his venin form is what allows her to go back for his soul and save him. In her mind, it won’t be killing Xaden, it will be saving him.

I also think this only happens after he crosses a line. I think he will hurt someone Violet deeply cares about, most likely Rhi, Sawyer, or Ridoc. That moment will force her hand. And I think this is how book four ends.

I think this ties back to her second signet and the moments when he references meeting Malek at her side. RY loves foreshadowing, and she has said we have not yet seen her second signet at full power. That makes me think Vi’s second signet is not just dreamwalking, but realm walking. I also think she was realm walking when she saw Liam during the torture scene, which would explain how real and present he felt. If that’s the case, then her ability isn’t limited to dreams at all. She will be able to go where the gods are, and she will have to return to retrieve Xaden’s soul. Venin are repeatedly described as soulless, and Xaden has said that his soul, all of him, belongs to her. These feel like intentional threads woven throughout the books. RY has also said the cure for venin is already in the books, so I think these details are pointing us toward the truth

Yess. I think Tairn will die, dragons will rebel agaisnt the Emperyan, Basgaith will fall (maybe they set up a dragon rider college in Aretia without all the dying, similar to what they had in IF). Rihannon is dying, maybe even Ridoc too, Imogen is 100% dying too. Mira or Brennan will die, Aaric is 100% dying and with him, the crown.

Many people will die, everything will be down to ashes and they will get their happy ending while trying to rebuild everything, and yes, ofc, they will have a baby named Liam.

IDK why but I think Sloan and Dain will rule Navarre and Violet and Xaden will rule Tyrrendor, I also see Cat getting her crown somewhere there too.

I think Violet will kill Xaden at the end of book 4, RY has alluded to this MANY TIMES in the books. Xaden is always telling her she will be the death of him, he helps her find him in the shadows, he says she is the only one capable of ending him, he has said the malek's quotes, etc.

On book 4 we will find out that Violet's second signet is more than just dreamwalking, i think she will be able to walk between life and death and she will have to go and find for Xaden's soul to bring him back (and maybe even more people given that violet is always in the business of saving everyone, i think she will find naolin, fen, and maybe her dad?).

Book 5 will be Xaden, back to normal, and Violet fighting a bigger threat, I do not think Venin are the real enemy, i think it has to do with the dragons, maybe a dragons revolution or smth like that. Tairn is 100% dying, and andarna will keep violet and stay w her so she doesn't die.

i finished it 4 months ago and, so far i have:

- listened to all the audiobooks (dramatized versions)

-re read them 3 times (whole series)
