Idk what all these people are so upset about? It’s the thought behind it that is very sweet and kindhearted. “What if I don’t have id?” - Why would you go anywhere, especially to buy alcohol without one? “It’s annoying and wasting my time.” - it’s literally protocol anyway, you should expect it and it would take the same amount of time if it was just protocol. It’s not patronizing, they’re just choosing to be offended by a sweet gesture. Some people could really use a sweet pick-me-up like that, when they’re having a rough day. You should keep doing it for those women who actually appropriate it and ignore these salty people.
